What was wrong with them? Those look like the right pads to me for the front of an IS250. The numbers also look correct.

Jeff,

The OP is aying the box numbers do not match the pad numbers 04465-53040

Box saids 47746-53060 while the pads say 04465-53040.
----------

I did a quick search and 47746-53060 appers to be the Japanese part number as this number cannot be located on Sewell.

The number on the pad rarely if ever matches the part number on the box (which is the part number for the "kit"). 04465-53040 is a kit that contains 4 x 47746-53060 Textar T4146-FF brake pads.

This is quite common for Toyota/Lexus parts that include more than one part, or come in a kit, which is why things like the part number on a shock will usually be different than the part number on the package (as it is a "kit" with the upper nut and/or washers), or older oxygen sensors which have a different part number for the "kit" that comes with the gasket, etc.

Looking at the shape of the pad that we can see in the picture, and the numbers from other pictures of the correct pads, these look like the right parts to me.

Learn some everyday. Part numbercan be different.

But ThePads are totally different. These are way bigger then the ones on the car. I knew i should have took a pic comparing them.

In going back to the dealers to day to see what's going on.

Were you looking for the front or the rear pads?

Yes they are all the same fitment (even RWD and AWD). There are 2 types of pads from Lexus (regular and low dust). The fitment is the same between them.

I am mostly used to Canada-spec, I wasn't even thinking when I posted before, sorry about that!

09+ USA cars have different calipers than 06-08, along with the smaller brake pads. Canada kept using the same calipers (and higher-dust brake pads).

IS250 Front Brake Pads:

04465-53020 - 08/05 - 08/07 Production (MY 06-07), Replaced by 04465-53040
04465-53040 - 08/07 - 09/08 Production (MY 08, USA-Spec -- Caliper mark 60-28); 08/07 - on Production (MY 09-12, Canada-Spec)
04465-30340 - 09/08 - on Production (MY 09-12, USA-Spec -- Caliper mark 60-32)

It looks like very early USA 09 models (some first month production cars), still had the earlier brakes, after that they switched to the other caliper/pad setup.

In any case, the pad you originally got would have been correct for an 06-08 USA car, or an 06-12 Canada car, but not for your car.

Sorry about the misinformation previously.

EDIT: I'd also like to point out that the rotors changed for USA-spec cars as well, later cars have thicker rotors, 32mm versus 28mm, with directional cooling vanes. The diameter seems to be about the same for both.

Jeff

Does anyone know the minimum thickness of these 09+ front rotors? Perhaps 27mm like 350 rotors? Thanks

IS250 Front Rotors:

06-08 USA Minimum Rotor Thickness: 25.0mm
09-13 USA Minimum Rotor Thickness: 30.0mm
06-13 Canada Minimum Rotor Thickness: 25.0mm
