Default IS eats tires as snack...

My 02' IS eats tires like candy. My rural roads are pretty bad but anyone have any suggestions? It's aligned often and I've been thru several sets of different tires. My cash is running out!

You either have a terrible alignment shop, the car isn't able to be fully aligned within specs and no one is telling you (or you aren't telling us), or, you have something worn that is causing one reading on the alignment machine and then when you hit the road for it to be pulled out of alignment (even by a tiny amount)

Worn control arm bushing may lead to horrible tire wear.

Sorry, kinda old thread. Just wanted to help out the OP...the bushings on your Front Lower Control Arm #2 (both sides) may need replacing. When I bought my '02 IS300 all 4 tires had absolutely horrid tread wear on the inner halfs, more so in the front. The car came with a receipt for fresh tires (with alignment) dated over a year prior with a stated mileage 10,000 less than the odometer at that time. I thought this was strange so I looked around online and the general opinion was those LCA#2's were to blame. Sure enough, the bushings on those control arms were shot to hell once I got under there to inspect.

Have a look around online and if you've been experiencing similar tread wear this might be the culprit. For this part I chose to go OEM, local dealership wanted $167 a control arm. I've seen them online for about $130. Follow that up with a fresh alignment though!

Good luck!
