Default Clunking noise solved!!!!! :-)

Just so everyone knows incase they run along this problem, I had an annoying clunking over bumps (you can search my threads), It would happen mostly over bumps that were on one side at a time. It ended up being my Front stabilizer/sway bar bushings. I always thought it was that because I had the same problem with an acura I had but my mechanic said they were fine, among lifting the car and trying to shake the sway bar you could feel the play and replicate a slight version of the clunk I was hearing. I changed the bushings and it rides like a new car so if anyone has this problem definitely change them, they go on ANY car especially asian cars as they are rubber and they are super cheap to fix (under $50). Hope this helps someone in the future

Where did you buy yours? Did you have any vibration before/after? I noticed on my car, my front sway bar was loose where it bolted to the endlink, and there was no vibration, yet I had a clunking problem. Tightened up the bolts, vibration is back, yet no clunking problem.

I bought the bushings from the dealer which is the only place i recommend to get any bushings as they are so cheap it makes no sense to go aftermarket. What vibration are you talking about though?

The typical steering wheel vibrations that almost all GS's are cursed with.

i doubt it was the bushing. if anything i believe it was the endlinks not being tight enough on the sway bars... so after your mech changed the bushings he tightened the endlinks.

i could be wrong tho. Least now you got new bushings! hopefully u got poly bushings and not OE rubber.

What brand are the poly bushings you're talking about?

Na its the bushings my mechanic said the inside of the bushing doesnt grip as tight and allows play, its not something you can visually inspect but they definitely go bad.

Yes I got the dealer rubber ones, they made them rubber for a reason poly anything ruins the whole Lexus comfort, if you want a stiff ride get an Infiniti or BMW.

What does it's sound like? I'm having sounds coming from the left rear. It sounds like something is loose.

Daizen makes poly bushings for swaybar bushings. Also i you can retrofit Energy suspension bushings, thats what i did on my SC400.
