Ls400 brakes worthwhile?

there is an LS400 at the local pull a part and what curious as to if converting the brakes on my 92 sc400 to them is worth it? what all do I need?

also while im there is there any parts off of it that are common to go out that I should grab off of it?

do it it looks good stops way better than oem and all u need are the calipers with new pads and rotors. I got a used set of rotors for sale if u need them

What year is the LS400 at the pull a part? The 4 piston calipers only came on 95 + LS400I am going to install a set in a few days. Will post my results.

Oh, you will need wheels to clear the bigger calipers as well.

CheVelleSS Jan 23, 2011 08:12 PM

I cant remember the year, but next time im out there I will look and if they are the aluminum 4 piston I will grab them. I have 18x7.5" wheels on mine.

Thanks for the help

^, even though you have 18's, the offset may not allow the spokes to clear the calipers. Hopefully it clears, worst case a set of spacers should do the trick.

Thanks, Im pretty sure I got enough offset on the rims, worst case if they dont fit ill sell them on here to someone that can.

BTW where in oklahoma are you from? Im in Tulsa.

These should clear a 30offset 17x9 in the front shouldn't they?

That all depends on whether they are concave, convex, have large lip, etc. They could be negative offset and still not fit.

Worth it! i drove my friend's sc3 with ls stoppers and they were shockingly powerful! i had to learn to ease off the brake! if it looks ok, get it

I got both hubs off a 92 ls400 will that work on 95 sc300 as brake up grade or what year ls do I need take them off of.

When you say bigger wheels, would a 17x8 rim be too small?

SChema Feb 7, 2011 10:07 AM

^, not necessarily bigger wheels but better spoke clearance. I've gotten 16" wheels to fit, tight clearances but they fit.
