Default LS400 Calipers are finally on!

i had all the hardware ready to go but before i could get going on the project, i got tboned and my gs300 was total lossed.

ive been healing since then... well, i normally do my own wrenching, but the damn cold has made my back so bad this pass week, i was hunch backing around work and physio yesterday was just horrible. i could do all the exercises to the shoulders, neck, and even upper back but when it came to anything that involved twisting my lower back, it was just stupid painfully sore.

so because i needed to do my brakes anyways, and i had all the components for the ls400 brake swap from my previous gs, i knew exactly what i needed to get done, and asked speed syndicate to help get it done for me.

94-00 LS400 Calipers
EBC rotors
EBC redstuff brake pads
goodridge SS lines

I had to wait to get this on last because, in order to fit them, i needed front RCA's to be in to push down the tierod to clear the caliper. i couldnt get the rca's in until i got my coilovers in, and i couldnt get the coilovers in until the front right replacement coilover finally came in (it was destroyed from accident)

they are essentially supra TT brake calipers, but made of aluminum instead of cast iron so the overall unsprung weight is even less than my stock GS calipers!

i needed a 5mm spacer to clear the caliper with the wheels.

it will be interesting when spring time rolls around and i put my 20s back on.

bleeding was an issue.

used a vacuum bleeder, no air bubbles, but pedal feel was horrible. decided to turn on the car, and the booster sucked and loaded itself up. refilled the resevoir, re bleed with vacuum booster 2 more times, and did the same thing again by turning the car on and letting the booster build up pressure. used a good 1L of brake fluid.

can the caliper fit without the RCA? and just shave the caliper slightly.

yeah, i originally had them gold as they were originally to go on my white gs300.

gs300 got tboned/total loss before i could put them on. hence why they are gold, and on a gold gs430, haha.

mucho difference. to be honest, im relearning braking on the car. braking was always good on the gs, pedal feel could be better but thats a whole nother thread. braking grips so much more, pedal seems to not need to travel as much as before. but that can also be because i went from oem brakes/rotors/lines, to aftermarket performance + 4 piston and bigger brakes and rotor all together.

its a tough choice, if u go supra TT, its direct bolt on without any need for RCA's. however, they are heavy. that being said, the gs overall isnt a light weight. what made me go with ls400's were easier to get, and i had the RCA's installed on the fronts already.

rears are brembo slotted w/ hawk hps pads and goodridge ss brake lines.

i saw no reason to upgrade the rears as they are already 2 piston, and most of the brake force is generated from the front (using my bike knowledge).

the original wheels i got are +43 for the rear. after rolling fenders and pulling just a tad, i realized i could push the wheels out way more. played around with some numbers, and did my research to find that a 25mm spacer is as optimal as you can go while retaining as close to stock alignment specs after lowering. i have rear camber adjustment to give me +1 more degree of adjustment as ive tried and am tired of running too much camber (looks good, looks bad on wallet)

the spacer is a project kics 25mm spacer. the center bore is 73mm which is about the same size as most aftermarket wheels (unless u go custom order). i had a machinist make a 25mm thick hub centric ring that i can stick inside that spacer to give the rear wheels a hub centric ring to sit on (not shown in picture)
