Coilover install questions...corners balanced?
So I called a local shop to inquire about installing my Tein Flex coilovers. They told me a basic install was $340 but that i should get all 4 of my corners balanced and that would be an extra $170. I have built many cars and never had a install of coilovers cost more than $250. Do I need the corners balanced? Isn't that or wouldn't it be more needed if it was for a race setup? Let me know what your thoughts are please........

You don't need it for street driving. Now if you're tracking, it's a MUST otherwise the advantages of having coilovers is thrown out the window.
$340 sounds a like a lot for coilover install unless that includes alignment.

I ran into the same problem....there's shop in town that is known for their coilover set up abilities but when I called them they strongly suggested I get all four corners balanced. I didn't know what that was but came to find out that for daily driving it isn't necessary. Like GSteg said, however, it is necessary for tracking.
As far as coilover installation goes, do you have a friend that might have access to a lift? My buddy helped with me with my installation and we had the coilovers on in about one hour...but we had a lift which made all the difference. I gave him $100 and bought his boss, the shop owner, a gift certificate to the local bar. Everyone was happy!

corner balancing is weight balancing. they use 4 weight pads under each tire and measure the weight the car distributes. corner balancing, while using coilovers, adjusts the heights slightly so that u are balanced as much as possible (left and right). now its great for tracking, as ur car is truly balanced left and right, however, this may also cause your car not to sit right (one side might be higher than the other).
you can attempt to corner balance the front and rear of the car, but thats definiately harder as the engine sits up front. i believe the GS isnt true 50/50 but its pretty good.
