UAS question

I'm gonna be putting together a simple kit together . my question is UAS offers a Lexus GS Billet Front Bracket Kit
[01-ST-GS kit, but i don't want to purchase that. i want to use my existing top mount. i saw a member the other day post a picture of his top mount shaven but i cant ind his posting again. i guess my main question is do i have to purchase the front bracket kit to prevent rubbing for the air bags. I have read most of the post and still debating if i need to purchase that front braket kit. I'm piecing together my kit.

Yeah man, it's a good idea and investment to buy the front billet bracket kit. Don't want a rub a hole on 'em bags now.

The kit will elevate the bag higher up in the strut tower.

Its very much recommended, however those who have bought them will tell you that it wasnt a 100% fix (well those who drive ALL the way down :p and smaller than 20" rims). Also, UAS offers a smaller bag and when combined with the billet kit, it furthers its distance significantly...

Heres the link to the install:

this link shows a good side view of the shaved mount as well.

Oh and I may have been the one with the posted pics of the shaved mount :p crappy pics, hope they help. Sorry, cant find the pic of the completed piece.

I'm bored and cant sleep... heres more pictures:

This is of the billet bracket, smaller bag. You can see the spindle still touching at park height. I would assume that at drive height there wouldnt be any rubbing:

Yeah when you're fully dumped the steering knuckle will kiss the bag, since the UCA moves up, pretty much until it hits the strut tower, it takes the knuckle up with it.

Speaking about billet brackets.. It sure would be nice if UAS would built some rear upper billet brackets for the GS

Made a render here..

RGARJR thats is sweet! What software did you make it with?

To the OP, I suggest you get the brackets, you don't want your bags to rub.

From what i can see in your picture. I am going to assume with your RCA you have now raised up the spindle in reference to your strut causing it to get closer. Looking at the picture, It looks like your bag isn't bottomed out. If you measure from the top to the bottom of the bag it should be sitting at aprox 4-4.25". If your sitting any longer then that, then the lower tube needs to be extended to account for that extra drop that the RCA has given you. Just eye-balling it in the picture, i believe your close to aprox 5" so if you were to space the bag up another 3/4 - 1" on the strut it would give you plently of clearance.

We are working on doing a fully fabricated upper mount, but we havn't finished it yet . I would love to do a mount that looks like that one, but i would be scared at the price tag on it...

That's good that you guys are working on some. You have any clue on the ETA on them.

Kinda on the back burner right now. I just need to find some quality time to spend with a GS and play around it.
