Default Coilover Decision

If you were only allowed these two choices which coilover would you pick?

HKS Hipermax II
Tein Flex + EDFC

Out of those 2, the tein flex because of the seperate adjustment for ride height without affecting the stroke. The hipermax iii has this feature though.

what is your criteria for getting coilovers? lowering the car? improving handling? looks?

if you want a sporty ride, be able to go loooow, and inexpensive then get stance($1000 all day)

if you dont need to go low and want amazing handling then get KW(about $1800-3300 depending what model you get and how they are valved)

as far as handling goes everything out there will be crap. they are over sprung and under damped.

i have stances. for the price they are great. i use my car for daily driving and drift events. when i get more serious with my car and retire it from daily driving duty im getting RobiSpec's KW or a set of custom built Koni's from Truechoice Motorsports. both will be around 3000 bux.

consider that a deal since moton setup goes fro about 15,000

tein is crap.

hks isnt much better but better non the less. from my experience with hypermax's on s-chassis they are very prone to leaking with time and abuse.

if you have both of those in front of you, unless they are free, i say sell them and get something better.

if the hks blow then rebuilding is going to cost an arm and leg and might as well buy new coilovers.

Examples? (links to blown/leaked coilovers)?

There are various members running these same coilovers with no issues. I have ran tein in 3 of my past cars tracked hard and they never blew or leaked. Im just looking for the better of the two.

i would go with the hks hypermax. better quality than tein imo.

your car should deserve some zeals though. it's not just another build but an all-out build like you told me before.

i dont have links to blown hks. i have had my hands full of the shock oil though. lol.

thats why i said MY experience. seeing a link on the web is not experience. its just here-say where you dont know exactly what happened.

different people have different opinions on quality of workmanship, handling, and whats best for them.

do what you want

+1 im so glad some one else agrees. I will not run tein on my car even if they were given to me. when i had them on my last car they blew out with in a year and teins customer service was crap. I will say my dad has CST on his SC430 and they ride pretty nice but for my applications they were horrible.

either one will be fine.

which one looks less used?

I'd get the tein with edfc, but what do I know.
