haha, i never used a hammer to fold a napkin before, thats some serious napkins! :lol

i got my shipment from sewell, but there was some confusion with the amount of parts. when i ordered the parts online, it showed a "PPC" of 4, which i thought stood for parts per count. so i ordered the quanity of 1, which i thought meant that in that order of 1, there are actually 4 bolts or whatever.

i ordered:
- 1 brake kit (2 pins, 2 antirattle plates)
- 1 hex bolt kit (PPC 4)
- 1 pin kit (PPC 4)
- 1 bleeder screw kit (PPC 2)

what i got was:
- 1 brake kit, (1 anti rattle plate, 2 pins)
- 1 hex bolt
- 1 pin
- 1 bleeder screw

those long pins that go thru the brake pad loops are expensive! almost 20 bucks each, and u need 2 per caliper!

after calling sewell and sorting out the confusion, i ordered the rest of hardware, so in total, just the hardware alone is about $100 bucks. this excludes the rotors n pads.

i already have the EXACT motorsport front RCA's, so i dont intend on cutting my tie rod bolt at all.

no cutting necessary.

SorrGwa....... That looks friggin ill!! I can't wait to get started on going mines also! Is the rotor gold finish? Because I wanna see how that looks on our white GS. I can get deals from my friend for some gold finished rotors. Oh btw if you can, can you get a side by side picture of the 2GS rotor and the LS400 rotor please?

Keep us updated!!!!

Wow...thats very gold. Is that hi-temp gold or just regular gold? what about a clearcoat over that gold?

Oh...what about the rear calipers? Painting them gold too?

the rears im keeping stock, i had them painted gold when i did my brake change 2 years ago.

im going to clear the LS400 calipers in a couple days, give the gold paint a chance to clear. i used high temp engine enamel ceramic paint.

so yeah, gonna be running brembo rotors and hawk hps pads for the rear, and ebc rotor and pads up front. hahaha

FML

After changing and rebuilding my master brake cylinder, and doing all the cutting and fitting needed, this happens.

passenger front ls400 caliper is screwed, i didnt noticed it til now but the side was grinded down, and the wall was so thin that it burst a pin hole leak!

arg, sourcing out a new front passenger caliper, gonna put things back to my stock GS brake system for now.

That really sucks. What did you use to grind it down? And why did you need to do that in the first place?

Some people do that so they don't need to buy RCA's I believe, there are tolerances on everything for a reason peeps...

Except the tie rod bolt doesn't even come near that side of the caliper so it must be for some other reason. If anything, the tie rod touches the bottom of the caliper.

Too bad you can't just weld it up and then sand it down.

Did my brakes yesterday (LS400)...very nice feel. Very little clearance on my 20" MMR HR2.

I DIDNT!

i bought the pair used off another member, he was gonna use it on his car but he went stoptech route instead. im sure he got it used as well off someone (might not be on club lexus). anyhow, i didnt notice until i compared the 2 side by side that the passenger caliper was grinded down.

again, i didnt do this. i did all my research, and because i am running front RCA's, i had no clearance issues at all.

I tried to swap the calipers this weekend, along with fixing an annoying problem ive had for a little while. I bought the brake master cylinder rebuild kit off sewell, made the swap but i think now its my booster problem. I have bled the lines 4 times now, no air bubbles left in the system. did it the old fashion way, rear right rear left, front right front left. did it again the new way according to what i could research on CL (fronts first, then rears). then did it all again twice just to make sure. went thru 2L of brake fluid. but looks as if the brake master cylinder is only part of the problem, i think i need a whole new one or one that is rebuilt by someone.

Ouch indeed. Hope it works out for you. These brakes should have come stock on the GS since the GS was suppose to be sport-oriented.
