Default Has anyone attempt Supra Brakes on GS400

I'm new to CL

Hi all I just purchased my gs400 with 49k miles and I don't like the brakes. I was reading up on different applications, but they can get very expensive. The least expensive I found was the Supra setup. Did anyone use this setup or recommend anything better for less than $1000.

Welcome...there are few threads out there with this topic, so check those out. To give first hand experience...I have a 01 gs430 with supra front brakes and love them. Very good upgrade for the price. You are right about the options...it gets expensive very fast! If you don't mind a little noise, I really like the hawk hp plus pad. I have those pads plus some cheap cross drilled slotted rotors oh and stainless steel braided lines. Remember if you do decided to go with a larger rotor caliper setup you need to make sure to get a wheel with a high disk offset (correct backspacing).

You'll need wheel spacers in order to fit the stock 17s.

I hope they were cheap but high quality.
if not, i'd go check for hairline cracks.

highly doubt they will crack under daily drving conditions. ive used cheap 88 Rotors D/S before and havent had a problem. racing on the other hand... yea...

also theres a reason why i went black rotors for my TT brakes... More surface area ftw.

ls 400 calipers are just as good as supras just alot cheaper you can get rebuilt calipers at autozone for under 100 dollars per side then rotors for another 130 about 400 for the whole upgrade!

You will need spacers to run stock gs 17" wheels as mentioned before, Also remember that if you go with aftermarket wheels you will need to purchase a Supra spare wheel/tire as the stock GS spare wont fit anymore in the front.

Will you need spacers if you are running ls400 brakes with 17" gs wheels?

Yes. Even LS400 calipers will require spacers when using stock 17s.
