Angry High Speed Vibration

I have a 1995 Lexus SC400. Here are the specs:

213k miles
gixxer_drew coilover setup, installed last fall, maybe 3k miles ago
95-00 LS400 front brake upgrade

I installed the gixxer_drew coilover setup late last fall. At the time I had a set of 98 GS400 17x8 wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position tires 245/45R17. Everything was fine.

For the winter I put on a set of 95-00 LS400 16" stock wheels with some well-used Blizzaks. No vibrations.

There was a nice day at the end of winter so I installed the 95-00 LS400 big calipers and rotors. I couldn't fit the GS400 wheels on because of the calipers so I bought a set of 15mm hubcentric spacers.

As soon as I put the spacers on I had vibrations at high speed. I took the wheels off and had the balance checked at two different tire shops (I had the front wheels checked at yet another tire shop). None found any problem with the wheels, tires, or balance.

I kept the spacers for a while. I put the winter wheels back on without the spacers and was again vibe-free. I sold the GS400 wheels and bought a set of Konig Again5 17x8 and a new set of Hankook Ventus v12 evo tires 245/45R17.

I mounted up the brand new wheels and tires and they clear the front brakes. I used the aluminum hub rings that came with the wheels from Discount Tire Direct. The tires were road force balanced on a Hunter GSP 9700 and there is just one tiny little weight per wheel.

I still have vibration. It is driving me crazy. What could the problem be? Everything is fine with the 16" wheels with Blizzaks, but as soon as I put my summer wheels & tires on I get vibration.

WTF is the problem here? I have sadly not taken the car for an alignment since I put the coilovers on. It is my impression that bad alignment can't really cause vibration on its own, it can only cause funky tire wear, which in turn induces vibration. These tires are brand new, and the tires which don't vibrate are getting close to worn out.

a little confuse.. Can you sum it up again?

what tire setup do you have on the 16"? You already made it clear that you don't get vibe with it but you do when you put a 17" wheel with 45 series tires. I'm guessing you probably have 50, 55 or maybe even 60 series tire profile?

With higher profile setup, you will feel the road less while with the lower profile you will feel the road more. It could be your bushings or ball joints already worn out.

good luck

Well I got an alignment with the brand new wheels and brand new freshly road force balanced tires and I still get vibration.

The 16" tires are 205/60R16.

I never had any vibration with my old 245/45R17 tires before I put the LS400 brakes on the front of the car. I didn't have vibration with the new big brakes with the 16" wheels & tires.

After installing the new brakes whenever there are 17" wheels on the car it vibrates at speed. When 16" wheels are on the car with the new big brakes it does not vibrate.
