I have an 07 IS 350, just under 17k miles. My Front breaks started Squeaking a bit. I have had one shop tell me that I need new pads and rotors ($650) and called the dealer they told me new pads and they will re-do the rotors for $400. I don't know who to trust. It sounds like pads are not covered under warranty but sound super expensive. Any suggestions out there would be great! Thanks!
If not might wanna give that a shot... (take it in to dealer and say you experience excessive front brake dust and heard there's a TSIB to correct it)
Then you get free front brakes (once)
(occasional reports of folks have said the dealer refused to do it on overly worn pads, but the text of the TSIB says anytime within the 50k mile warranty period, and most folks have no problem getting it done)
Please excuse my ignorance but what is the TSIB? Thanks so much for the tip, I find it hard to believe I need to put $400 worth of Brakes on a car that has 17k miles.

Unless you've seriously abused them, you don't. At worst you'd need pads, not rotors, at 17k.
The "based on a customer complaint" bit in there is why you have to contact them and explicitly say you are experiencing excessive front brake dust...and this (free) new set of pads is the fix Lexus offers.
cool, thanks so much for your help, I called this am, and they told me it was gonna run me $400, just made an apt. and will bring this document in like I never spoke to them B4. Thanks again!
make sure you stress the fact that you do not like the excessive brake dust cuz that's what the tsib addresses... the excessive brake dust. don't even bring up your concerns about the squeak... that'll disappear with the new pads.
