Default Sway Bar Worth It?

Before you guys go off on me hear me out. I have the chance to pick up an OEM supra sway bar for about $75. Is it worth the money as far as giving me a little better handling/feel/etc? I dont plan on tracking the car or putting crazy amounts of power into right now. Just want a lil sportier handling.

supra and SC bars are the same. the rear bar is the same as the sc as well in its thickness. the shape of the supra bar, ie less bents, gives it a bit more rigidity. to use the supra rear bar you also have to buy supra rear subframe mounts. about 160ish for that alone.

the front bar is identical. overall no its not worth it. swaybars are a band aid solution to body roll and handling. they CAN help but they can also hurt handling and if its too stiff makes the car too harsh to drive. the sways have to be paired with the suspension you are going with.

best way to have sportier feel and reduce body roll is an actual set of shocks/springs or coilovers.

after dropping my rear subframe to do all prothane bushings i did not reinstall the rear sway bar. on my stance coilovers the car has virtually no body roll whatsoever and handle like its on rails. its not "lexus" ride quality anymore but god damn does it take turns

cliffnotes:

supra/SC front bars are same
rear are same size bit stiffer due to diff shape
to install rear bar need supra rear subframe mounts(160 bucks)

overall...not worth it.

Go for some Daizen poly-u sway bushings. A noticeable difference for 30 bucks.

Many of us have or did use Supra TT springs and shocks as an inexpensive first step into improved handling. Paired with that set, the MKIV sway bar is likely much better match ("paired") in that case than the stock SC bar and I felt that the improvement was noticable, fwiw. Particularly as I began putting the SC on track for HPDE days. The ~$250, well that's an individual call.

5sp_jzz30, you've got me thinking I should pull the sway bar altogether now that I am on the Street/Track Gixxer_Drew Bilstein Coilovers, 650lb front and 500lb rear. He has mentioned this as well. The car feels absolutely glued to the pavement. I'm curious now what it would be like if sway was deleted.

you can disconnect one of the links in the rear. doesnt matter which side. removing the rear bar is easy but you can disconnect a link from the sway bar to the lower control arm and get the same effect. see what you think of it. i really want this f-ing winter to end and do some tracking and/or drifting. i got a deal on a of slightly used r-compound tires and i cant wait to test them out.

i got a pair of Pirelli p-zero corsa's in 265/35/18 for 120 bucks

Normally I say sway bars are worth it, but because it's not a direct swap without the new subframe mounts, the performance/cost ratio will go down.
