Do 255/40/17 Fit...?
1998 GS400, currently with OEM 17 x 8 and OEM suspension.
Will 255/40/17 fit REAR without problems?
Will 255/40/17 fit FRONT without problems?

you'd probably get more response in the tire forum.
from the looks of your "GS4 PLANS", you've got some serious items for your 2GS. oem on my 5 spokes, i believe, are 17x8 on 235/45's. so i cant imagine how a 255 series would be on a 8" wide wheel. but hey, i'm no tire/wheel expert...GL
