I received the PSB poly rack bushings, part#207 from Sewell today. I'm quite disappointed with these! They come with two metal cylindrical pcs that are supposed to slide into the poly bushings. The problem is that the metal cylinders have absolutely no resistance when inserted into the bushings. And I'm not talking just no resistance, I'm talking like 1/32" of gap between the cylinder and the poly bushings. It's like the wrong size metal cylinders were sent!? Does anyone have experience with these? I've never installed poly rack bushings on a Lexus but I've installed them on plenty of Mustangs and always had a very tight fit! I'm planning on returning these since this can't be right!

I suppose there is a chance that once they are inserted and bolted down, they are tight. I have no issue with the poly itself. I think it's plenty hard. But the fact that the cylinder is so loose inside the bushings worries me.

I installed the Sewell poly rack bushings today in my 2001 GS430.

As noted above, I was not thrilled when I received these because the cylindrical metal inserts that come in the kit insert had too much play inside the round bore of the driver's side rack bushings. However, when I pressed the round bushings into the rack bore and torqued to spec, the bushing gripped the metal cylinder tightly as I hoped they would.

The install took about an hour and everything went smoothly without any surprises. From the original thread, instead of using the screw-driver and mallet to get the old bushings out, (which didn't work too well for me), I used pliers + mallet on both the upper and lower driver's side bushing. The passenger side bushing was cake.

I have not driven the car yet, but everything looks fine and these bushings are much stiffer than the worn OEM rubber bushings that I took out.

i did this service today using OEM bushing from my local lexus dealer, its like day and night! very happy with the outcome.

it was harder to do using the OEM's because they are one piece, a pain the *** to put in. the ones on the first page look alot easier to do, and cheaper. i paid almost $100 for OEMs

The under of the car is different from the Gs300. I attempted this DIY and i could not reach the top driver side bushing. I could not put a plier through it. I ended up replacing the passenger and bottom driver side bushings only.

Did you leave the passenger side unbolted and pull the entire rack down a little? Make sure the both wheels are off the ground. I don't think you can move the rack down if you are on 2 ramps.
I drove up on 2 ramps and then jacked the car up off the ramps and put stands on each side. I used a stubby screw driver and knocked it out with a regular hammer. Was not hard at all.

BTW guys I used a brand called Richocet sold on Ebay. I think they are better quality than Daizen at 75% the price and of course a HELL OF ALOT BETTER customer service getting them within a few day from Cali to Boston. No waiting month with no response and then getting a refund
thru Paypal.
They make bushing for several cars like Porsche, Bmw etc. They are a blend of Polyurathane and Kevlar and felt very hard vs oem rubber . The bushing metal cylinders are nicely machine shaped and the cylinder bushings are 1 piece like oem vs 2 split pieces. I believe 1 piece would have better stability. Almost all my front end parts are new ( Moog tierods, ball joints, sway links and poly sway bushings) so everthing was tight. I felt a signifigant difference in stability and my old rubber bushings weren't in bad condition.

Just sayin, avoid the potential drama from buying from you know where and get em. The Monopoly is OVER!!

Hey guys, just so you know I was also able to confirm the driver's side version we had made. Working on the passenger side as well next. Driver side will be a clamshell type which I think in this application is both easier to install and allows for more shoulder on the bushing for higher durometer parts. If it was pressed in it would be tricky to install if it was higher durometer. These will be the same high quality casting process as our other bushings (zero air bubbles etc) and features lubricating channels to hole grease on the crush tube.
Just another option for you all. Ours will also have a 60k mileage guarantee.

Mike

I ordered a the bushing kit and was wondering if the inner sleeves are suppose to be flush on both ends or stick out a little bit? will that be a problem or do i have to grind it down a bit?

I am told by Sewell that Daizen is out of business.

Anyone know other sources for bushings?

EDIT: Just went to Sewells website and punched in the order and it looks like it is still valid, so either they have stock or these aren't Daizens, or I was given bad info on Daizen being out of business?

They arent Daizen units they are (PSB) Problem Solving Bushing brand. I just ordered and received mine a couple of weeks ago from Sewell. They look identical.

I believe they are of equal quality of the Daizen units. Honestly, I dont think you could tell the difference.
