Default Severe Vibration

I have the Cross Drilled and Slotted rotors for my GS (GOT THEM FROM EBAY ) don't know the brand, but they are getting very cranky. When ever i barely touch the brakes, first there is this weird bass type noise from the brakes, then before i reach a complete stop it vibrates like CRAZY . I need new rotors is what a toyota specialist told me, who has worked on these type of cars for over 13yrs. he said he couldn't modify them because they are drilled and slotted, and that could break off his bit from the machine. So he sugested new rotors or stick with the original types. NEED HELP ON WHAT TO DO. I LOVE MY ROTORS , DO I HAVE TO GET NEW ONES OR IS THERE A WAY TO FIX THESE?

get a shop that can actually do drilled/slotted rotors. a lot of them do that, including the shops i go to. they have no problem surfacing my slotted/drilled rotors.

that's probably what you need. your rotors are warpped.

and make sure you get new pads (of somehow surface the pads flat too, and make sure you bed in the pads well

I just got new pads/rotors a few weeks ago, when I first took it upto 60MPH I got a horrible vibration... I had this vibration before the swap but it got worse because I think my calipers are sticking so the pads are always touching the rotors a little bit. Picked up the caliper rebuild kit and will be installing next tuesday, i'll let you know if this cures the problem.

I was experiencing the same vibrations before I got new rotors & breaks a couple of months ago. Now, for some reason, the vibration came back, and sometimes the breaks screach as well. I know I have new breaks and new rotors in the front, and I'm pretty sure my back brakes are good as well. Anyone have any ideas on why my wheel is vibrating again when I brake?

My experience with the no-name and aftermarket rotors is that when used on cars like the Lexus they will surely become "warped," causing the vibrating brake pedal. As soon as you mentioned eBay, I knew what the problem was...

I believe most of the problem is actually due to brake pad deposition onto the rotor surface (StopTech has a good explanation of this on their website) and improper break-in procedures when the new rotors and pads are installed. We experienced this on my brother's '94 GS300 after I installed aftermarket rotors & pads; I carefully adhered to the break-in procedure, but in spite of our best efforts the brakes began pulsating/vibrating within about eight months. I believe the aftermarket rotors may have more porosity or lesser-grade steel, contributing to the problem.

My brother purchased (and I installed) new original equipment Lexus rotors and pads. This was over a year ago, and there is no sign of the problem re-occuring.

Trash the no-name aftermarket crap rotors and go back to OE(or do a big brake upgrade) and I suspect your worries will be over!
