Painted Brake Calipers ?

On the instance I observed the job, the bottom caliper bolt was removed, caliper lifted temporarily, then the pads removed and tagged. The paint is applied by brush, we used a small sash brush. All four wheels need to be removed, jack stands, and calipers prepped prior to mixing the paint. The G2 covered well and results were better than expected.
I think the reson you see colored calipers on high end sports cars is mainly in recognition that those are Brembo brake calipers generally regarded as one of the, if not the, best in the business.
If you want colored calipers by some big a** Brembos and go for the real thing. Slap on some braided lines w/ceramic pads and really get some stopping power

why is every mod done to a car considered rice? rice this, rice that, what is the definition of rice? is it envy? i don't have a problem with what others do to their own cars. if it's not my taste, it is not going on my car. some people think it's rice to use colored bulbs. i swapped out my fogs to yellow, does that make me rice? then so be it.
i think painted calipers look good. it is to seperate your car from other IS's on the road. DRVEN1, if this caught your eye and you liked it, then go ahead and mod your vehicle that way.
i feel like i'm on the other board.

What's really funny is when I see the "powered by ******* racing " type cars running around with the drum brakes painted fire engine red.......now that's pure comedy!

It looks stupid if the calipers are small and it does depend on the color. It can be done tastefully. I painted my big Euro M5 calipers black as I am lazy and don't feel like washing brake calipers. Plus, I actually prefer a cleaner look that doesn't take away from the overall look on the car. Even on Porsches, I find the red distracting (you can order red or black when you buy the Porsche). If you have a dark car and silver wheel with a red caliper that is the first thing that draws your eye.

IMO it's personal preference. If YOU like the look, that's all that really matters, just be sure to clean the calipers well and do a good job with quality product like G2.
My personal opinion is that I don't like red or yellow or other eye-catchy color unless it comes from the factory like that or if you've upgraded your brakes. However, if you want to clean up / dress up ugly factory calipers, use an understated color. On my GS I've upgraded brakes (and wheels and a lot of stuff
) a couple of times.
I started out with silver G2 paint on Supra TT big brakes which I didn't like because 1) I did a crappy job applying the paint (spilled a bunch when it ate through a plastic cup, didn't prep well enough, etc) and 2) Silver clashed but did not match with the other silver colors on the wheel, the brake rotor, etc.

I moved to a gloss black which I liked very much. Better job prepping ,nice glossy and very hard finish. This was with a G2 competitor paint
When I decided to go with an even bigger brake (Brembo GT 355mm) I chose red instead of black more for show than anything else. If I'm going to drop serious coin on a big setup, I WANT people to notice them.

If you do decide to paint them, there are lots of threads (not on 2IS though) that may come in handy from a previous seach I did

Even on my LS400, I have the calipers painted black with hi temp paint because the LS430 wheels I have on the car are pretty open and it looks much better.

As I mentioned over in My.IS I'm thinking of doing a medium to dark red. I don't want them to stick out to much like bright red, yellow or green. Beside the 4 piston calipers are a pretty good size and deserve to have a little extra attention drawn to them.
