GS Sport design suspension
Anyone know if the 02 GS300 Sport Design already comes with the L-tuned susupension? I heard that it is lowered a little compared to stock and the shocks are L-tuned as well, need comfirmation on this being that I have a completely new set of L-tuned S/S that is awaiting install. that would be a big oops if it turned out to be exactly the same.

The Sport Design models are just special packages that add to the car. Usually Sport Design packages are cosmetic as in, different color wheels, exterior paint color, interior trim accents and special badging and slightly stiffer shock dampening for the suspension and etc.
L-Tuned suspension can't come straight from the factory as it was a PIO (Port Installed Option) only. This suspension gives a noticable drop to the car unlike what's found on the Sport Design package.

Lexus Introduces Two All-New Special Edition Models.
...Another Lexus special edition model that provides additional value and distinction to a popular Lexus vehicle is the GS 300 SportDesign. It receives performance enhancements including a Euro-tuned sport suspension and upgraded 225/60R16 tires wrapped around polished alloy wheels.
The exclusive SportDesign model incorporates perforated leather-trimmed seats in either charcoal or black with contrasting piping, a special black-stained burled walnut trim on the shift ****, doors and center console, and a brushed-aluminum type console panel. The special edition GS 300 is further distinguished by SportDesign badging on the front fenders, center console and the scuff plates.
A new exterior color, Graphite Gray Pearl, will be exclusive to the SportDesign, however, the model also is available in Black Onyx and Millennium Silver.
Now on sale at Lexus dealerships across the country, approximately 3,300 units of the special edition GS 300 SportDesign will be produced. It is offered in two versions by combining the SportDesign content with the existing Premium Package factory option, or with the Navigation/Mark Levinson Package. Offered in conjunction with the existing Premium Package factory option, the SportDesign option carries an MSRP of $4,050, only $310 above the price for the stand-alone Premium Package.

Lexus Announces Pricing for All-New 2004 RX 330 and 2003 GS 300 SportDesign
...The 2003 GS 300 SportDesign edition features new saddle-color seats (black is also available), gunmetal-colored aluminum wheels and an exclusive Graphite Gray Pearl exterior (Crystal White or Black Onyx are also available). HID headlamps with titanium-finished surrounds, SportDesign badges, a chrome grille, black pearl emblems and a rear lip spoiler enhance the exterior, while the interior is accentuated by brushed metallic console trim, a center console badge and SportDesign logos on the scuff plates and floor mats. In keeping with the sporty theme, a Euro-tuned sport suspension is standard.
The 2003 GS SportDesign will be available at Lexus dealers beginning the last week of March. Approximately 2,200 units will be produced and will carry a premium of $2,860 (which includes the leather package) above the current base model GS 300 price of $38,725.

Flipside909,
Thanks again, i knew you would know the answer. O.K., so as far as the drop, i would expect it to be ~ 1in. difference from stock (Sport Design) to L-tuned springs, right? But, what is your opinnion on using the L-tuned shocks versus the "Euro-tuned sport suspension (stiffer shocks)"?

I personally like it lower...if you're going to get larger rims especially.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I have the same questions that were unanswered above:
1. What is the drop from stock with Sport Design suspension?
2. How is the ride versus regular GS3/430? I've only driven the sports design.
Thanks.
Eric
