Default How to check shocks

It's been a bit over three months since I have my 01 GS300.

Last month, they changed my front 2 shocks, and this past Wednesday, they changed my rear shocks too. All for free.
The ride seems the same to me or maybe I expect too much.
How can I physically check and see if the shocks are indeed new?
Are they the silver tube that I see when I peak near the wheel?
I have no modifications to my car.

just look at the shocks, behind the wheels. you should be able to tell if they're brand new.

Yup I did. It looks new... I guess. It was black colored, not silver. It has two stripes. One purple and one blue. From the looks of those stripes, they look pretty new.
But the car still feel a bit bumpy. Maybe the new shocks need time to sink in.
