Joe,

How well the vinyl stickers stand for the heat from the calipers? Do they shrink or get burned? I painted my calipers in high gloss black, they do get pretty hot after some driving. I was just wondering how long the vinyl stickers will last.

That means that neither one of you has been doing any real hard performance driving!!!....J/K

I am actually more worried that it will last under harsh driving conditions (eg, brake dust, rain, snow, road grime, car washings, etc)...The sticker's on the windows don't get subjected to as much dirt, grime, heat as do the brake calipars so that's what I am really worried about.

I'm thinking you can use the vinyl stickers as a stencil...Clean calipar first, attach stickers. Spray paint with color of choice (obviously, silver would not work...) and remove. Voila!

i have had mine on for 6 months and they have not burned off or come off etc.

they last and last & last..............

the heat actually makes the vinyl bond really well.

mine got really dirty this past sunday (right joe, back me up on this) and when i got hom & cleaned them up, all the dirt came off no probelm and stickers are on really tight as well.

$17 for the set, the cheapest mod you'll ever make & they look really sweet!!! especially when you are rolling. You can really see it very clearly.

If you want the stickers I can have them to you w/in 2-3 of the receipt of the check.

Good idea... What if a first coat of black was applied, then use the stickers as a stencil for the silver paint, finishing them off with a layer of some clear coat.....
xsuperjoe? Did you use a final clear coat over the vinyl stickers? Tiny

Default Out of curiosity

superjoe,

did you put the car up on blocks/jacks to do this or did you wait for each wheel to dry before moving on to the next?

1) tape the car up (above the wheel wells)

3) let it dry
4)drive car
5)press brake...the brake pad will cut a razor sharp cut right into the paint where the rotor is which gives it that perfect look.
6)let all 4 calipers be warm to the touch
7)apply vinyl stickers...make sure they are straight
8)go show off!!
9) go and get some honeys'

I hope my step by step method will help you guys acheive your goal of the perfect caliper.
I strongly disagree with how xsuperjoex painted his brakes. By painting the rotors this will ruin your mating surfaces on the brakes. By the paint being on the rotor it will leave a residue on them and when the rotors heat up it will glaze the rotors causeing poor brake performance. Glazing is when a substance becomes so hot that it actually turns any residue into a glass like coating on the rotors and brake pads causeing the pads to not be able to grip the rotors to there full potential. You want to make sure that your rotors are perfectly clean when you put them back on, and use Brake Clean to remove any harmfull residues that can cause glazing. Just make sure when you are using the brake clean that non of it sprays onto the newly painted calipers because it will remove the piant. Make sure you use only "residue free" brake clean and no other cleaners on the rotors!! Well hope this helps

The rotors won't glaze up if you keep light pressure on the brakes and allowing intermittent cooling with the car in motion. Repeat until the discs have been burnished. Many aftermarket rotors come painted or plated and burnishing them is normal practice.

Default Lexus Caliper Stickers

Guys:

I just wanted to let everyone know again, that I have the caliper stickers that XsuperjoeX has on his car. I've had them on mine for about 6 months, they look great (especially when rollin') and I get compliments on them all the time.

I am selling the set of 4 stickers: LEXUS spelled out in the trademark lexus way for the 2 front calipers and the Lexus L symbol in a circle the lexus way for the 2 back calipers.

The set is $17 and I can get them in any color that you want.

Send check or money order to:

Ted Chrzanowski
227 Garry Drive
New Britain, CT. 06052

I will get them to you w/in a few days of receipt of the check.

Peace,

Ted
