No, it's still very comfortable, with stock rims. It will get a bit harsher with bigger rims, and a bit more harsh with TRD sways.

Yikes! 400 to 700 dollars?! Are u serious? Bit, did you have to pay that much at the dealer?

Given the comments, I am still trying to figure if I would like the L-tuned vs. eibach/bilsteins. I am afraid that the L-tuned wont make as big a difference for me. IMO, the stock set-up is way too soft. Again, is the L-tuned that different? I did install the L-tuned steering ecu and while it helped, I certainly wouldnt call it "BMW-like" as others have.

I've been quoted a dealer install price of $460 for these mods in Chicagoland.

So correct me if I'm wrong, the L-tuned shocks/springs/steering ECU will change the handling of the car so it is tighter with less float, making it easier to control in shaper, more agressive turns. The combo will have a minimal effect (if any) on the comfort of the ride - i.e. the ride won't be harsher nor will it increase road noise.

I don't want added road response transferred to the cabin. My goal is to retain the smooth ride while improving handling.

I test drove a Linoln LS V8 Sport and I didn't like the added harshness.

Chris,

your description pretty much nailed on the spot the l-tune characters. however, each person has diff perception of "harshness". i was also concerned of such element in the past. but after i rode in cars w/l-tunes and eib+bilsteins, the ride quality is still acceptable.

the best thing is to find someone w/such combo, and have a test drive. if you really want to retain more comfy side on the car, get the front and rear SWAY bars, the excessive body roll would be greatly reduced. this comment is derived from 2 ex-540owner who are now gs430 lovers.

2k1,

get a chance to look at the car and test drive it wupgraded suspnesion and see how you like it.

Thanks Steve! How's your back? Hope you're feeling well.

With the crappy stock market I've been holding back on any further mods (as you know) but I'm still thinkin'.

I'd love to have the TRD brakes, but I'm not sure if they'll fit in my WEDS for one thing.

I'm also still interested in the L-tuned grill...

Serious coin for those two though.

Send me an e-mail if you want to quote me again.

get the shocks from GS4WILL!

I just installed my H&R springs w/ bilstein and I love how it feels/handles. Body roll GREATLY reduced. The ride is a bit harsher plus I have 20's on. Though I don't know how much harsher it is from l-tuned, or eibach.

According to the local Eibach rep (No. CA), the drop on the 430 is 1.2 inches front AND rear even though it is the same part as used in the 400. Something to do with new suspension tweaks on the 430.

I will take some pics and post them when I have it done as my springs are on order with gs4will (thanks Will!).

Unrelated, as a newbie, I was wondering how the heck you post a pic into a thread? I have some pics of painting my calipers I would like to share with.

binK & 2k1,

I just installed my L-tuned shock/springs on my gS3.
A bit disappointed because I was expecting a sportier handling car even with the stock 16" tires.
It improves the looks of the car a lot. But, I'm looking for help because it doesn't have that 'fun to drive' feel to it. I posted in another thread that I'm looking for help because I have been disappointed with my results so far. Without any other suspension mods, don't expect much out of the L-tuned. But for the money, it at least makes the car look better!

With stock 16"s, it won't make a big difference. The tires are too big and soft. With 17+ wheels, you will feel that fun to drive feeling.
