excuse my ignorance but what reason do you have to jack up the car to put on a STB?

STB = STRUT TOWER BRACE ..... yes?

take off 3 bolts each side on top of the strut and put brace inbetween then bolt back down....

show a pic dood....

Panda,

Its pretty common for people to have to do... depends on their suspension, the angle of the car / surface, etc. Relieves tension on the front suspension

You can try to jack up only one front side of the car, it worked for me.

I already tried jacking up only one side first. but still no go. I will try to see if I can jack up from middle. Where should I use for jacking point if I want to jack up in the middle. Should I take it to tire shop where they jack up the whole car from the bottom to see if then it would fit. I was thinking about that anyways since I think I might have to check the alignment after install.
what would be you guys opinion.
thanks

yeah where neo posted should be where you jacked. i suppose your problem now is that the car seems to be too "long" right? jacking up from that point will flex out the strut towers both sides. jacking up the car one side after another isn't going to to bring you anywhere.

if the car appears to be too short, then i think y ou shoudl jack up the two sides. now i have yet to see that case though

panda, it's indeed a pretty common problems among some members. didn't happen to me at all, though

what do you mean by "too long"? When I jacked up on one side first, struts seems to be still not flexed out enough. So I did the other side and still the same. Basically, the bolts wont fit to the hole and stb bar holes seems "longer" then the bolts on struts.
Anyways, I will try to jack up in the middle to see what happens.
thanks

yeah what you are describing is exactly what i was trying to say. it seems like the stb doesn't fit coz' the stb is "too long" and when one side sits, the other side the holes are a bit more outward from teh struts

just jack up from the middle and that should do it

If you take out the nuts on the strut bolts, you see that the 3 holes is a little bigger than the bolts. This gives the assembly a little wiggle room. If the two sides are installed "just right" (or wrong ) , the STB won't go directly in. Jacking up the car allows the STB to go in with the bolts moving into the position the STB was built for.

The STB will fit as many here has it. You just need to get the strut bolts into the right position.

Good luck.
