LS brakes do not fit GS!!!! :(
 

I'm sure many of you guys out there have seen IS and SC install LS400 brakes and also Supra TT brakes. Well, just for the record, the LS brakes DO NOT fit 2rd Gen GS!!!! :mad:

The following pictures will show what didn't fit. :cry:

btw, now they're up for sale. If you're looking for this setup for your SC or IS, PM me. I have the calipers and Rotora slotted & drilled rotors.

After looking at it for about 30 mins or so, I found a way to fit them. Very simply to do, no cutting or grinding required. :)

yeah i don't know, but jawnthen put ls400 brakes on his gs no problem?

also, the brakes will not fit the is3 for sure. the is shares different brakets from that for the gs/sc

alredxiii, they are not the same. the supra tt, the ls400, and the ls430 they all have different brakes

for the record the ls430 calipers they won't fit on the 2nd gen gs

well.... I took the pictures of where it didn't fit. it was totally pressing against the knockle. From what I remembered, I checked and double check that I had the Left caliper on the Driver side.....

Darn it!!! THIS SUCKS!!!!! What am I doing wrong??? :cry:

umm if you want try to pm rmmgs4 about it, i think he helped the isntall or something

jawnthen is way too hard to reach

It seems like it's just a straight bolted on (with the expection of cutting the dust shield). Maybe I'll try it again tomorrow.... :(

Yeah,
I had to perform some "magic" to make them fit on Jawnthens car.

I trimmed both the steering knuckle bolt and just a little of the caliper.

Not technically a good thing to do, but Jawnthen was "committed" to make them fit.

We installed the calipers umpteen times and I just kept shaving the corner of the bolt until it cleared. I used a dremel, with kevlar blades and a very steady hand . :eek1:

One word of caution, don't cut into the caliper body too much since you can cut through to the brake fluid reservoir !

One more note. The LS rotors are NOT the same diameter as the TT rotors. LS are slightly smaller.

I have a way to install the calipers without trimming..I can't reveal how just yet but I will in private for now..

I got the LS430 monoblock aluminium calipers conversion on my car, but they take special nickel-cadmium alloy brackets made by DSR to get them to fit. IF you got the brackets, install is a breeze and just like any other big brake kits.

Yeah, it has to be a custom job. There is a guy in Atlanta that has LS 400 brakes on his IS. He told me it had to be custom like ya'll did.

ok so it's not direct fit then. in that case i wouldn't call the ls400 brakes a bolt on at all. far from it actually. personally i wouldn't feel safe doing that to get the brakes to fit

Well one way to get the calipers to fit is to rotate the caliper slightly towards the 12 o'clock position so it doesn't hit the steering linkage.

This would require a custom bracket and probably what jtanoyo1's set up does.

There's another way, but I'm not telling either ! :p
