Default Flushed fluid but still a long squishy pedal

It had been a "few" years since last doing a brake bleed and my wife was complaining the brake pedal was a bit squishy (it was alarmingly squishy, almost to the floor).
So we did a full flush on the weekend, 2 and half bottles of DOT 3...still VERY soft.

Master cyclinder? booster? Is there a rebuild kit available?

Thanks in advance
Julian

Air in the ABS / Master Cylinder lines most likely. I don't know of a how-to on these cars by yourself. I've done it on a similar design on my 4Runner (there is a youtube how to on it). I took my GS to a Lexus dealer for this procedure after I did my brake system overhaul and they made it feel like new / fantastic. Cost a couple hundred bucks I think but worth it for a good pedal. They have a special tool they can use to active each line and bleed them per FSM.

Two options if it is indeed in the ABS. There could be other reasons.

1) Go activate it quite a bit. Gravel and dirt roads are good for this.

2) With the front in the air, put it in D. With leather gloves on, grab the rotating wheel on one side.

I have actually used #2 to fix this in a cheap Chevy once, when I did not have or want to buy a dedicated scanner w/ABS feature.

Thanks for the replies, I'll do some research into bleeding the ABS unit itself but I would have thought that was bled out when i did the rears as the ABS pump does the pumping for you when (don't need to push the pedal)

Cheers,
Julian

So you do in fact have a device/scanner with the ABS control feature? Which model?

This is the FSM section for doing it: https://charm.li/Lexus/2002/GS%20300...0and%20Repair/

But if you're still having trouble it might just be worth taking it to the dealer
