Besides looks I think it's a waste of money unless I was going to be at the track a lot. The fronts do 80% of normal braking.

That is the same thing I'm thinking. I'm going to do Brembo but I'm waiting 'till next year

Anyway, here's an update on the brakes.
After the install on Wednesday the brakes were powerful but the pedal travel before engaging was longer than it was with the stock setup so I was kinda disappointed. Beyond disappointment, I was actually worried because when for example someone cut in front of me on the highway and my right foot went for the brakes, it took that much longer for the brakes to engage which was losing valuable braking time, potentially critical in this kind of situation.
So I took the car back to Hennessy Lexus in Gwinnett County (NE of Atlanta) who did the install to see if maybe the brakes needed more bleeding. After bleeding the brakes and not seeing any bubbles in the brake fluid, I called Matt from StopTech he suggested bleeding the brakes while *holding* the rotors and calipers off wheel in a way to make sure the bleed screws on the calipers were upright (unlike the angle they're on when on the car). VVT-i at Hennessy and his sidekick did this, no bubbles, but we figured oh well, we've done everything we can, maybe the brakes will get better with more miles or I'll have to live with it (wasn't thrilled about that idea). They put back everything and VVT-i pulled that car back slowly in the shop and said "seems better!" I took the drivers seat and we went for a spin. As a Jamaican might say "olly cheet mon!"
Pedal travel is short, precise and stopping power is FANTASTIC.
On the way home I 'tried them out' a couple more times, and they're just spectacular. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended.
Just to recap I have the StopTech front big brake kit with 355mm rotors (14") and 4 pot calipers.
As some of you may know I also had Hennessy put in the Supra Torsen diff, which I also **HIGHLY** recommend. It's a GREAT mod as far as making the VSC nanny stay in the background and allowing more traction to get to the pavement, especially out of a tight turn. It's INCREDIBLE.
Between the brakes and diff... my car is transformed... again.

Bit, I'm gonna sue you for neck injury when you slammed on the brake at 5 mph in the parking lot
. Even at 5 mph to 0, my whole body was moving forward and then slam back to the seat. Incredible stopping power
I'm glad we got it figure out. I think bleeding the brake with calipers and rotor in the up right position does help. This is something Stoptech need to add on to their instruction as troblem shooting.
The big smile from you and the big
is priceless. I'll see you Sunday.

yeah that's correct. sometimes you have to bleed the system couple of times. when i first got my ap racing, we bleeded the system since, but over the next two months it was very clear to me that there were bubbles inside the system. brought it back to tm engineering and todd helped to bleed it again. guess what, tons of bubbles came out. apparently they were stuck somewhere along the system and after some usuage finally the bubbles came out. well, not my car feels so solid, and the brake travel distance is SHORT. slightly push on it and the system works so well already. if i push my brakes just like how i did with the stock brakes, i am sure i will get rear ended all day long
btw, bit, in your post you mean holding the CALIPER in certain position where the screw is upright, not rotor, right?

Congrats Paul, your car indeed is completely modified yet again!!!! It's because of spend-thrifts like you that I can never seem to save any money for anything!!. Everything seems to go into the car!!!
I am getting my TC from Steve this coming week! That would be my first performance mod and I can't wait to feel the difference!!

For those interested in the brake weights, I got info directly from StopTech. Here's what the guy described as 'approximate weights':
ST-40 caliper w/o pads = ~8.25lbs
Typical 355 rotor & hat assembly = ~15.50lbs
Typical caliper bracket = ~1.0lbs
Pads = ~1.0lb each
Lines = Same as the stock line

nice setup. curious how many hours went into a brake install. i got the rmm brakes, and was quoted 7 hours for everything including lines and two rear rotors. thanks and if anyone else has a comment i shall except. beautiful setup...you guys set the bar more high every time.
