We stopped counting posts in the moderator lobby towards post count at some point, and that took away a chunk of them (Manary was previously a moderator). He's been pretty inactive over the last year 1/2.

Dave,

tried to follow the link about becoming a paid member - but it didn't work. Do you have an updated one?

Thx man,
Jonny

Dave,

Bringing up an old thread but I was amazed at the number of registered members who have zero posts. Would it not help to delete all of these people to clear up bandwidth?

Bandwidth is created by active members (and crawlers, 'bots, etc), not members with zero posts.

We do have a huge large number of folks who do nothing but browse the forum for information and that's OK. There are some things they can't see without being registered and logged in.

We've changed the focus of funding the forums a bit over the last year and I've spoken with Ethan on paid memberships / donating members, etc several times.

We don't want to do it unless
1) We can make it administratively seamless (not a lot of manual updates and maintenance)
2) We can give a benefit to members for it. Ethan initially was thinking a hard item (t shirt or something - which complicates #1) but we're migrating towards soft benefits such as more PM space, more gallery space and other little perks to recognize the contribution.

Other bigger stuff on the plate right now and like many things this gets pushed lower in priority. Since it involves real $$ it would require extensive testing to make sure that our signup configuration was secure and worked properly.

Bottom line - still stay tuned. We appreciate your willingness to help donate and keep the forum up and running
