Cleaned the computer only to go back on CL and have it F'ing hit again. Now, the F'ing thing won't even boot in safe mode. Amazing that I'm dealing with this...on my own home base website.
was on NOAA, Reddit, dark roast, and Fark...no problems, open CL.... Headshot!
WTF?!?!

Has anyone located the source, any ideas the mechanism the malware is using, Java, I'm sure.

After a bit of snooping, I found Firefox thought Java was the culprit. Did a Malwarebytes quick scan and found nothing, but went back and disabled Java, then reset Firefox and re-installed AdBlock and templates. Problem seems to be fixed.

The problem seemed to affect CL only, a number of news and entertainment sites were not affected.

Same thing is happening to me, with chrome and safari.

There is already a thread on this though, no need to create another.

The other threads I've seen are about Norton popping up an alert - and I don't use Norton, this was brower phish/malware. Which means something's going on more than just Norton flagging the site

I guess you didn't read the other thread. It's the same, no mater what browser... Except safari on my iPad.

This may or may not be related.

Someone tried and failed to login to my bank account at around 10:20 last night. They tried multiple times and triggered Wells Fargo to disable my account. If you're using the same credentials to login to CL as your banks I recommend changing your bank logins ASAP.

I also scanned my PC after all this but I came up clean.

Fortunately I use different usernames and passwords for everything.

Firefox reporting CL is an attack site
Just hit refresh on my CL tab, and Firefox threw a nasty warning about www.clublexus.com being an attack site. Nothing in the detail specified why--it said of the past 90 checks, it found 0 instances of "badware", etc etc.

I wonder if someone reported it as malicious just to be an ***.

Yep, chrome says the same thing. I disregard. Heck, this computer already has a virus...
