Enhancement ideas
Couple of ideas as you're planning some updates/upgrades:
1) Make the search feature stand out more on the main forum page. Blink or 3/D button. I think it may not be obvious enough to new folks. Potentially also provide a link link to a FAQ page when someone selects the search feature.
2) I've recently seen a vb forum that has a "Find previously participated posts" option right at the top (under 'welcome back DaveGS4". I found this feature pretty useful to get a quick list of posts that I recently replied to for an update. I assume its basically the same as a search by username.
