Close the debate section if you dont want people voicing their opinions against your fav political party.

I moderate on other boards and there are subjects that I wont touch because my opinion is biased in one way or another. I just let one of the other mods take care of it, jus so it doesnt look like im abusing my moderating powers.

Thanks for the idea, the debate forum is now closed.

I need you and other members to understand that the volume in our debate forum of late is such that we can't always wait for another moderator who isn't involved in the discussion to come in and help. I do review the actions taken by the debate moderator team and generally agree with most of them. When I don't, I will take action... and you can report posts or PM me if you have problems with any specific decision by a moderator and I'll review it.

Of course this would not be an issue if everyone posting there is accountable for their own actions and comments so that it doesn't have to be constantly moderated. There has been a recent influx of angry content, blatant insults and posting for the sake of causing someone else angst (flame-bait) that will stop or we'll just keep this forum closed until December 2008.

I see what you are getting at, Dave, but, under these terms, what's to keep former DEBATE threads and subjects from simply being started up again or re-hashed in CLUBHOUSE? (I, of course, as do many other CL members, respect your decision to shut down the forum and refrain from certain subjects, but that doesn't mean everyone will). You and the mods would probably then have to police the CLUBHOUSE forum around-the-clock instead of the DEBATE forum, deciding what threads and posts are now appropriate under the new rules and and what aren't. Seems to me we would just end up robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Exactly......and the overload could end up being shifted over to CLUBHOUSE instead, if the same DEBATE stuff starts up there.

I'm not sure I understand your question MM?....those threads would simply be closed. If needed we will implement a strict no-politics / no-debate-type topic policy on our entire forum for the duration of the election season if members can't converse with each other in a mature and calm manner, regardless of where the threads exist.

The moderator team is working on refinements of the debate forum rules and will get them posted within a couple of days.
