Just noticed that we can change our own thread titles.. kinda cool, i actually just accidentally stumbled upon it.

Think this is something new? When did this go into effect?

 

I've had it enabled for several years, but it only works for the first 5 minutes or so - the time when you first post your thread and realize you have a typo, you can go in and fix it.

After that only moderators can go in and change them.

 

Why cant we change our own Thread titles, after that first initial 5 minutes?

 

For a couple of reasons

1) We regularly get thread titles that are incomplete or inappropriate (vague, cursing, racial commentary, etc) that the moderators edit to conform to the rules of our forum. When we've left it open to edit, we've had instances of members changing them back to titles that are not appropriate for our forum. It's a waste of time to have to battle back and forth.

2) There were classified forum sales where members manipulated an item price or content posted in the thread title depending on the demand of their initial price. We want to record the edits and with a thread title change occurs, we can't due to the way the vBulletin software works.
