Default not allowed to post non-lexus classified - 100 posts???

So I just bought my wife a Lexus IS250 AWD and registered to post questions here. Seems I should be able to post in the classifieds the nice truck that I'm selling. After all, the reason is because there isn't room in the garage anymore because of the Lexus. Hope it's sold before I reach 100 posts here.

I think many Club Lexus members might be interested. What's the point in forcing 100 posts?

JL

Welcome to Club Lexus! I've removed your autotrader link in the post above (posting it here merely served to circumvent our rules)

Yes we have a 100 post minimum for every 'high dollar' sale on our forum as clearly defined in the classified rules posted at the top of each and every classified forum in the MUST READ BEFORE POSTING ITEMS FOR SALE sticky.

There are two primary reasons we have this rule:
  1. An increase in theft and ripoffs on our forum via classifieds sales over the last few years. We've found that members who do not have ties to our forum and don't know other members personally were involved in a significant percentage of sales with issues.
  2. (and this is specific to your case) Used car salespeople were regularly taking advantage of our free classifieds and spamming our forum with used cars and trucks for sale. I can't tell if you really bought a Lexus IS for your wife or you're just pretending you did so you can post a used car for sale here.
Stick around and participate in the forums, meet people locally, sell smaller low dollar items successfully - then you can sell the higher dollar stuff. We believe in the 100 post / time on the forum rules so strongly that we're going to automate it. In the near future you won't be able to even start a post in the classifieds until you meet certain criteria.

You've got your truck posted at autotrader and there are hundreds of other places you can sell it on the internet, some for free... Good luck in getting it sold and congratulations on the new Lexus.

Sure I've been having fun lurking and learning a lot, but not sure me posting 100 posts on the IS 2nd generation forum after having the car for two weeks is really going to interest the other members.

Afraid we're going to agree to disagree. I just wanted to give you feedback that I was disappointed at not being able to post my truck for sale and I'm sure others will feel the same - no big deal.

Thank you for your understanding. I'm also sure the people who have been ripped off by 'new members' posting items for sale would strongly agree with my position as well.

This rule is for the safety of our members and for the protection of our CL vendor relationships. Yes, there is the opportunity for 'missed' items that might interest them but there is a world of other places online for you to sell (and for them to look) if they want to take that risk. Autotrader, ebay, craigslist, etc. and all those sites are better suited for you to sell your used truck than our forum is.
