Default Is there a way to search for three letter words (EGR, TPS, etc)

The board does not allow three letter searches, yet there are so many abbreviations in cars that very often you need to find. For instance, MAF, EGR, O2, EVO, TPS, AFM, ECU, and so many others.

Use a wildcard MAF* or spell out what you're looking for, etc throttle position sensor.

Well there are are words that spell out what each and every acronym actually stand for. 90% of the time you can find the thread using one or more of those words.

You spell them out instead of using the acronym

use 'airflow' for MAF or 'throttle position' for TPS

Yeah, I knew what you meant - just messin with ya.

The wildcard will pull in the 3 letter word when followed by another character... it doesn't get the three leter plus space but often will get other variations that people type or follow-on words.

For example TPS* picked this one up because of the close paren

It was designed to make you ponder.

Works like a charm, try AEM* or any other three letter word on the forum and it brings it right up.

I would love to see three character searching. The * wildcard misses a lot of posts and Google doesn't crawl every thread. Plus you can't refine the search to sub-forums. I thought it was enabled at one point?
