Is the gallery slow today?

I'm getting killed with with slow sped from the gallery tryong to upload a 100 pics from this weekekdns meet but its taking so long. Its not my spd cuz I am able to fly through my pages as usual but in the gallery it stays stuck.

I got the pics uploaded but it took me over an hour and a half to upload them. I kept busy while waiting for it to process the pics..LOL I shrunk them down too, they were all about 100k in size.

Are you trying to load 5 pics at a time? 3 pics or less at a time actually works best. I will see if I can take down the upload link for the 5th photo.

Yes, I was doing 5 at a time. I've done it in the past many times but today was superslow. maybe 3 would have been quicker last night. I didn't think of that.

i tried 3 at a time, it was a bit faster but then i had to do it couple more times

overall though, i just did 5 and let it wait while i was browsing some other stuff

We are hitting the limit of the Apache web server. Photopost developers already know that Apache is not the best web server for serving static Html and picture content. Apache is really geared toward being a robust dynamic content web server.

Some web servers like, lighthttpd, zeus, and sun one server were never implemented becuase the minor performance increase could not justify the increase complexity and increased cost. But, this was based on traffic that was 1/3 of our current site traffic.

We are currently discussing about what needs to be done to provide a faster and more enjoyable service.
