Again, I don't think there has to be a huge departure from the original logo to satisfy Lexus corporate that there is no copyright infringement.

I understand Lexus' dispute with having their corporate "circle L" mark as part of another party's logo; that is clearly copyright infringement. I don't think they would have a problem with their mark being displayed on the site but there are quite a few specifications that come with displaying a corporate mark legally (not to mention legal text that go along with displaying said mark). In addition, if the Lexus mark were displayed it would probably have to remain separate from other branding and demand its own space. While I would agree that you don't want to make a knockoff of the "circle L" Lexus mark, something could be designed that was inspired by it.

Here is a design that I think captures the look and feel of the old logo while displaying an evolution from past to present.

...and this is how I would taylor the design for usage on a sticker:

Copyright infringement is not the only issue at hand. I'm simply going to keep stating the rules and for those we like I'll seek some legal direction before including them as options.

Thanks to everyone who is helping out and offering ideas here!

We've decided to run a member contest on the logo w/ voting similar to the photo contests we've run in the past. More to come in about two weeks on contest rules, voting, etc.

EXACTLY!! Very similar to what I was referring to in a previous post. The only suggestion I'll make is to knock the bottom left corner off of the 'B' to incorporate the L in the B.
What's up with the Black/Orange though? Maybe we need to work on those colors to make it classy.
The sticker idea looks excellent. Three thumbs up.

Interesting to see the term 'The Lexus Owners Club' A little too close to LOC that might confuse some.

LF, that tagline has been on our (former) logo a LONG time, even before LOC had a US website.

Since ClubLexus prides itself to be a G-rated family-friendly website. Here's the proposed new logo:

Let's see Lexus schysters have a problem with this.
