I got my first Lexus (2020 RX 350 used) a couple months ago and I absolutely love it. I've been using Google Maps and Waze on Android Auto without problems but I wanted to start using the car's GPS. When I try clicking on the Navigation app screen, it said to go to lexus.com or something like that. I went to the dealership and they looked at me as if I had 3 heads and told me that the only GPS is the one on my phone using Android Auto.
Can someone please explain or clarify, doesn't the 2020 RX350 have a GPS? For such an expensive car I would expect a GPS to be standard.
What size screen do you have? If you have the 12.3 inch screen you should have the navigation package. If its the smaller screen you will need a lexus eform subscription i believe. To me the subscription is a waste of money, they force ads with tires and service which is unacceptable.

My first RX was a 2016 and requested the package trim with Nav, but opted for an lower trim level without Nav on my current 2020. It was nice to have the better resolution with larger screen nicely intergraded, but to keep the maps current was $300 per upgrade and was a little glitchy with directions at times. A couple of times lost satellite signal due to weather. Your phone is always current and you can choose which Nav program you like best. I've only lost cell info once, but you can opt to download your map depending which app you use. Not suggesting how to spend your money, but I didn't really trust it. If directions was really important on a trip I used my phone instead on my 2016 RX.
As for being standard they sell these cars in package trim levels. It would come standard in certain packages.
Navigation is not standard option which I glad that I didn't have to pay extra those packages in order get it. I don't understand why some preferred manufacture Nav over phone navigation. Specially now AA/CA is standard you can load your preferred nav apps (google maps/Waze/Apple maps...etc). You can download google offline map if your don't want to use your phone data plan which fully integrated with touch screen and voice control of google/siri with latest POI's.

The 2020 model year had a Navigation Package, which included navigation, 12.3" touchscreen, GPS-adjusted analog clock, Dynamic Voice Command, Lexus Enform Destination Assist, 12-speaker premium sound. There was also a Nav/Mark Levinson Package that included everything in the Nav package plus the Mark Levinson sound system.
As someone else noted, if you have the 12.3" screen then you have Nav. Note, though, the smaller (8", I think) has the same footprint as the 12.3" but only displays on the center portion. (Analogous to standard def 4:3 content on an HD 16:9 TV with black bars on the side.)

Some people, like me, just don’t want to spend the time learning the various apps and how to use them in my car. I get sick of having to learn all the new technology just to do basic stuff. So for me it’s just easier to use the factory Nav for the basic directions to get somewhere Im not familiar with. Waze does nothing for me (I’ve seen it in action, just don’t need it). And I don’t want to get in my car and screw with both my phone and my car to use the features. Yes, this is what it’s like to be an old fart.

I'm not sure what "new" technology you talking about. All smart phone loaded with either google maps or apple maps. You just plug-in phone cable to car (usb port), and navigation maps will show up in your car's screen. Old folks like me finding key-in address or search POI from manufacture navigation so ridiculous difficult that required "master" degree.

Agreed, using the phone is soooo much easier than using the car’s factory nav.

And the apps on your phone, google maps, Waze, etc. are constantly updated. Anywhere there is road construction chances are the nav that came with the vehicle is outdated & usually there is a cost to have it updated.
I heard an interview with an automotive engineer explaining that the infotainment system is already outdated by the time it gets designed and then implemented into a new vehicle. I think it was an Acura engineer discussing the RDX. I looked hard at that vehicle but the infotainment system was a hot mess when it first arrived (along with a couple of other issues). It makes so much sense to let the phone and app software to just update the system continuously into basic car hardware that can integrate CarPlay well.
I just find that the phone app software works perfectly for my needs using CarPlay. I have Google Maps or Waze running with traffic, and other apps for entertainment (mostly books or podcasts). I waited for 2020 model to get CarPlay and touchscreen and it has met all of my expectations.

I have never used Android Auto, but if I do, will I be able to use Waze or Google Maps with voice directions and still listen to XM radio and/or make phone calls?

Interesting comment. I have had the Nav subscription on the last several Lexus vehicles and never received any ads. Where do these appear? Is this in your email?

Thanks to everyone for your answers. I suppose you are all right and I don't really need the car GPS if I already have access to Google Maps and Waze on my phone.
I guess it was just strange not to make it a basic feature. I bought used and I just dislike having to understand every single little difference between the packages when comparing options. It used to be the case that bells and whistles were just that, some pointless bell and some dumb whistle but now I have to worry about what other thing that I really use but they took out. Oh well, I guess that's the world we live in. It angers me that salespeople very deliberately distract you with euphemisms like "you are getting the PREMIUM package that's great!" but at the same time "screw you! that package comes only the little screen and you get a ton of empty black space sucker!"
