Default LS600HL DIY Hybrid Battery replacement(using Prius cells)

I have 08 LS600HL with 195k. Battery started to show errors.
I was thinking to rebuild battery but it’s impossible to find 14v original cells. Therefore I’m planing to use 40cells from Prius to get 288v(6.5 ah)
What do you think about this idea?

Step #1
I got 40cells from EBay
Got 4 brackets to hold cells compressed.
Got 5 chargers to check cells capacity.( 3 cycles discharge1A-change Auto1-6A)

All my research shows that it’s same cells and ls600 just has double cell. Gs400h use 40cells like in Prius

lets just assume he has some experience with electrical engineering and knows what he's doing.

I'm certainly interested to know how it works out. Please keep us posted, with pictures of the swap. Thanks!

That is definitely very nice that you can use Prius cells. WAY better than having proprietary $10,000,000 cells only for this model! And I love the threaded rod cell compressor concept, clever and cheap!

I'd google all of the hybrid battery refurbishers and contact them to see if they're producing (or even working on) LS batteries. Prius batteries have plummeted in price in the last couple of years and I'm guessing these guys are working on an LS replacement.

I see no reason why toyota would make different batteries unless they are newer or older generations

I'm considering the same idea. Could you post a pic of two small cells end to end beside one of our longer cells so we can see if they'll fit once they are joined?
I guess if the packs themselves won't physically fit, it would be possible to open the packs and swap out the individual cells. It'd be a bit of a mission though!

how about the solid state batteries announced for 2020, could these offer an upgrade to the hybrid systems?

Update. Prius battery compression will not work because it’s too big. I will order metal one to fit in.

I'm tempted to print and mark up your drawing in red ink. It doesn't meet ASME Y14.5M-1994 standards.
