Default Picked up a 92' SC3.

Well, after looking and looking for a factory five speed shell with no luck whatsoever, I decided to purchase this 92' shell for only $500.00. Extremely clean body with a clean Carfax. I never noticed that only 92' SC's did not have a passenger side airbag. To be quite honest, I really like the clean look of the dash without the airbag. Anyhow, I have a spare 2JZ block at work with a 1JZ head and I'm thinking about just making a 1.5 out of it and mating it to an R154.

I figured it was a pretty good deal compared to what everybody else is asking for their shells 😉

I’ve always preferred the single airbag. Out of 4 sc’s only one had dual.

Thanks Guys. I'm going to paint it black right away and then start on piecing together more crap for the build. I was thinking about adding either a deep purple or deep blue pearl to a gallon of black paint. Still undecided. This car is perfect for what I'm doing as I already have a spare block and trans and I'm gutting out half of the interior.

Great find and at a really good price.

My SC300 is black and IMO that is the very best color for this body. I would be interested to see some pictures of it after it gets painted, especially if you mix in the pearl.

Is the trans you already have a 5-speed or an automatic?

It has the stock automatic transmission in it as of now. I want a manual transmission that can handle 1000 horsepower, so I think I might have to go with either a CD009 or a T56.

From what i can see it looks like a decent shell that doesnt need much work. A blank canvas ready for the artist to begin his masterpiece.

Look forward to see what you do with her.

If you want a 1,000 horsepower capable manual transmission then look into the Tremec T56 Magnum swap kits that Joel Grannas Racing offers. He has several twin plate and triple plate clutch options for it.

Also if you pick the T56 as your transmission then you can keep the stock SC300 4.272:1 rear diff as it is the ideal ratio for that gearbox. All you will need to do is have it rebuilt with a clutch type LSD of your choice.
