Sudden Increase in Fuel Consumption
Hi guys
I have recently used the techron concentrate plus to clear some of that carbon
However, I noticed my fuel consumption went up significantly - enough for me to take notice
it was pretty stable at 22.6mpg (metered) / closer to 21mpg (actual) but it went to close to 19mpg (metered) /18.8mpg(actual)
this is pretty much the same daily drive and traffic
is there anything I should be worried about?

Does that additive/cleaner have alcohol in it? Well documented fact that surfaced when
E-85 (85% alcohol / 15% gasoline) became available was that while the price was lower
per gallon your mileage would go down 30%. I would continue to record your results and
would expect a return or hopefully an improvement to your baseline ratings. Outside chance
you are...um...checking out the performance changes and...well...driving a bit harder?

many thanks for the kind advices
I'm using the techron concentrate plus, not sure if it contains alocohol but the 2 main ingredients are Distillates, hydrotreated light and Polyether amine (info gotten from the SDS and these 2 makes up to 90% of the 12oz bottle
definitely hoping that, I am not too concern about the fuel economy to be honest, just wondering if the spike in that could be pointing to a more major issue internally - o2 sensor or fuel pressure? (i do have a bit of fuel smell particularly in the rear passenger seats during the first 10-15min of drive but that occur before the techron/fuel consumption spike)
I am just in my 3rd tank after the techron and I ll continue to see if it changes - 1 thing I noticed as well the tank average went 22.6 so did the average FC, I thought that that usually takes much longer to "average" out

Excessive idle time, cold weather, lower tire pressure, dirty air filter, dirty MAF, and worn spark plugs all contribute to reduced mpg's.
That small amount of additive likely has little to do with the situation. I run that product 3x a year to remove moisture. And although mines a 350 mpg's drop in the winter about 1.25mpg.

yep..i am more worried it may be the maf or o2 sensor or the recalled fuel pressure sensor...because I did get some fuel smell from time to time particularly at the rear seats
I am not sure with sensors if u get some rough idling or engine cutting off, eg more obvious symptoms but I am not getting these
I have changed the spark plugs and air filter less than 5k miles ago..and I do checks on tire pressure time to time...no winter where i stay too
i guess all i can do is monitor for the next few tanks or so
