2005 ES330 rear window inside film Cloudy
Hello Everyone, I have a 2005 ES330 and the rear window inside film is cloudy and it makes it hard to see out when backing up. From the weather here in Florida, I suspect that it's now baked on. It don't come off by scraping, only near the edges. Is there a method to soften it and get this film off so my window is clear again? Thanks for answers in advance.

Assuming there's no spray-on tint, or anything else previously intentionally applied, I'd try using a "magic eraser" sponge. Cover the rear deck with a big car towel, spray down one area of glass with a good FOAM auto glass cleaner, let it set for a minute, respray, wet the sponge B4 using it, and go to town, using side-to-side motions. Try not to rub too much on the defroster ribs... I use '0000' steel wool on the OUTSIDE glass with said foam cleaner as well. Good luck.

I would only trust this to a “better” detail shop rather than myself and they’ll explain why. Most of the DIY tinting application/removal jobs I’ve witnessed didn’t turn out well on rear windows.
Pray for your defroster.

OK, so you're saying there IS a tint film installed. Sorry, about that- I misunderstood original post. I thought you were referring to a buildup of grime. Removing old tint is a whole different dealeo! I've used a heat gun myself, but if you're not confident, go pay someone.
