Anyone Gone with Wider tires on OE Wheels?
I'm looking at replacing my tires soon and would like to go with a little wider setup. I was looking at upgrading from the factory 255/35-19 Front and 275/35-19 Rear to a 265/35-19 and 295/30-19 set of tires on the factory wheels. The factory wheels are 19x9 and 19x10 so It looks like they should fit on the wheels ok but I wan't sure about any rubbing issues. I've seen others say they used 20mm spacers without rubbing so I figured this should fit.
Let me know what you guys have done in the past.
Thanks

Have you considered sticking with the factory Michelin Pilot Super Sports, but switching to the XL variant? They will fit slightly wider as the name suggests. This will be the route I take when it comes time to replace tires on mine.

Edit: Ok I think you're talking about diameter not width. If so, will this really throw off anything much since it's a small difference?

I'm confused on these numbers. So a 265 on the front and a 295 on the rear would equal wider fronts? What do you mean by OD? I've also been interested in wider all around. Hankook V12 Evos seem to fit the bill for price/performance/size...

Adding to this, has anyone gone to a 40mm sidewall up from a 35? How about going to a 100Y load? I want to do this on mine
Front Pilot Sport A/S 3+
265/40ZR19 5-Rib Tread Design 98W
Rear Pilot Sport A/S 3+
285/40ZR19 6-Rib Tread Design 103Y
Front Pilot Sport A/S 3+
265/40ZR19 5-Rib Tread Design 98W
Rear Pilot Sport A/S 3+
285/40ZR19 6-Rib Tread Design 103Y

^^^^You are mistaken in your description of what the 35 or 40 designation in the size of a tire stand for. It is the aspect ratio and is a percentage of the tire's width at it's widest point. Therefor a 285/35 tire would have a sidewall of 35% of 285 or 99.75mm (3.93") and so on. IMO, a 40 aspect tire is not a good idea.

You know what I mean... Why is a 40 tire a bad idea? <b>I just want more sidewall to tamper the stiff suspension along with coilovers

Personally I like the stiff ride and it’s way better than my Sho was with coil overs. Any increase in sidewall height to me looks less sporty and more like a “regular” car. Just my opinion. You may find the extra height is a good trade off for the softer ride although I’m not sure how much it will help.

If you don't care about how the suspension performs, then run whatever you like. The problem is, when you move the center of the contact patch up or down by changing the diameter of the tire, you upset just about every measurement critical to good handling. The likelihood the car will handle better is very small. You might like the feel of the ride with more sidewall height, but that'll be about all.

The 2nd one is with the Hankooks Ventus Evo 2's and spacers.
Thought it might help give you an idea, the Hankooks do look chiunkier IMO.

Thank you for correcting me and pardon my ignorance (Tire specs were never my strong suite), I was simply going off past experience on previous cars with SL and XL tires and noticing a substantial fitment change when switching from one to another. I will be going with the XL PSS variants very soon as I think they are better suitable for NY roads and will report back if any width changes come about.
