it's pretty simple.. on my 2013 you just plug the usb into the usb port. ( on my car that is located in the center console ). Once plugged in on your "radio" screen, just scroll over til you see a USB tab.. click on that and then you should see various folders listing your music.. click on the one you want to listen to.. pretty much it. Hope I didn't leave any steps out.. been awhile since I used that function.

Thank you Roland. I am using a 128GB flash drive. I get a message Searching for USB once I plug the USB drive. However, the message disappears and USB is not recognized. I read somewhere that this needs to be FAT32 formatted, but windows is not allowing me to format 128GB using FAT32. Need to find a utility that can format high capacity flash drive as FAT32.

You must make absolutely certain that all of the “rules” are followed: no more than the number of folders allowed: no more than the number of files in each folder: no more total tunes on the entire thumb drive than allowed: all tunes must be in the permitted format…check your manual for these rules. If you are formatting on a pc then FAT32 should be automatic. FAT16 is also acceptable per the manual (approx. p.425 depending on what year you have). The first time you insert the thumb drive and turn the player ON, it will take a few minutes for the car to scan everything and make sure no rules are broken. After that they fire right up when you turn the ignition ON. Personally I use a couple of 32 Gb drives and switch them around every few months. They each hold around 4,500 tunes. If you are on MAC then there is an option to format FAT. 128 GB seems a bit overkill…64 GB will let you hit the max allowed which is 9,999 tracks (unless they are all lengthy, classical recordings).
