LS active lane steering assits
with the The advanced pedestrian recognition and auto steering, what would happen if an object was in the adjacent lane? would the car just stop short and auto brake? We hope it wouldn't steer you into traffic... any help would be appreciated thanks.

It won't cross into another lane whether the other lane is occupied or not. It avoids the pedestrian within the same lane.

This sounds good but doesn't compute. What if the pedestrian is in the center of the lane or walking into the center of the lane from the curb? There won't be enough space to avoid by driving around and yet remain within the lane. I am sure Lexus tested the cxxp out of it, but it will be nice to see some "real-world" demos of the system. I am guessing that if the car can't safely drive around the pedestrian, it will try to stop completely. And if the car ends up colliding with the pedestrian, it has this cool feature where the entire hood pops up a few inches (at all corners) to reduce the impact on the person.

Where are you reading all this magic? The car will stop as programmed, and if that isn't good enough for the pedestrian, than tough luck. The attorney's will be involved like any other case.

What magic are you referring to? Both the active pedestrian avoidance and the popping hood are described in various promotional videos or 3rd party reviews.
