the huge wheel gap and front end look on those video thumbnails really isn't doing it for me.

It is weight that is keeping the IS200t behind on all four fronts including: acceleration, economy, braking and handling.
The current model 2012-19 3 Series uses its own dedicated platform, not shared with the 2010-17 5 Series, hence the current 3 Series is a very lightweight car.
Meanwhile, the current model 2014-21 C Class uses 48% aluminium content, hence 220 lbs lighter than its predecessor.
The current model 2015-22 A4 is 260 lbs lighter than its predecessor.
Lexus is desperately waiting for the next generation of 2018-25 5LS, 2019-26 5GS and 2020-27 4IS to arrive with new hi aluminium content lighter weight platforms, which have bearing on all four facets of acceleration, economy, braking and handling.
I wouldn't worry too much about V8's, extremes in HP and 0-60, nor worry about overly firm suspension & handling preferred by some - these factors are mainly aimed at the "niche" market, and sell in only small quantities.
The most important factors is still in the badge and styling, and that's why 5LS's rear quarter view really worries me for relative sales rates...

I was trying to make a point that torque isn't indicative of 0-60 times, as someone else was insinuating that were idiots and don't understand torque and that the LS 500 will be as fast as the competition based on that torque.
Under normal circumstances, yes there's typically a correlation. In Toyota speak, not necessarily.

August 26 is around the corner how about some patience till the embargo is lifted.
One thing we can all agree on is how good that price is. considering the amount of standard features on the base model.

Now that we only have the "L" model and they are pricing at pretty much the previous gen swb model, the LS is a good deal. However, I have some dislike towards Lexus always being the value based proposition. I know to some degree, it always has been, but it will continue to stay out of true Tier 1 category by being the go to cheaper option. I dont want it to win comparisons because it is 20K cheaper than an S class. It needs to be as good or better, and I have no problem with it being priced in the mid 80s for that to happen.

Off the top of my head, I'd say that styling will be 5LS's biggest Achilles Heel.
By comparison, the LC coupe doesn't draw as much controversy in its styling.

If it doesn't want to be considered a "value" proposition, then it should offer the attributes that allows the others to charge more (like more engines, a base V8tt and a true F). Even if they don't sell as much, it's still an important benchmark. These things aren't ever meant to be volume leaders to begin with, but it sets the tone for the entire lineup. I think the Germans realize this.
