Anyone here do a winter tire swap with their 4GS?

I'm about to pick up a lightly used CPO 2015 AWD F-Sport that comes with 19" OEM ASRs on it.

I'm thinking this winter as extra insurance I should get snow tires, possibly on their own rims. Winters up here in MA are like 60% slushy garbage, rain, snow, and sometimes dry roads. Blizzaks come to mind. Any reccomendations for rims that will cut the mustard but
not break the bank?

How do you guys deal with TPMS? Is it possible to have two sets of sensors registered to the car? Or do you just say "eff it" and run without the sensors? (might make things cheaper, particularly for tires I'm only going to run for like 4 months. )

For the winter set, downsize to 18's or even 17's rims if you don't mind the look - more meat on the tires to protect against pot holes and cheaper. Blizzak's are pricey and mostly good because of the extra soft compound they use, but that means they don't last as long - really, *any* snow tire is going to be better than all seasons, so check TireRack and choose whichever fits your budget.

The car can only register one set of sensors, but there are tools you can use to program the sensor IDs into the car when you change the tires. (e.g., ATEQ Quickset, Techstream). Personally, I just went the "eff it" route.

I'm a Michelin snob so pretty pricey. But the treadwear is so much better than everything else I ran (continental, falken, pirelli) I went on my spider rims from my 3GS

+1 on the dropping to 18s I run 235/45/18 for winter

i say f it on the tpms. My 3GS had a button to switch between 2 sets. Correct me if I'm wrong but the 4gs doesn't?
i change my sets myself and don't have the machine to calibrate the sensors. But if your going to a shop it's pretty quick to calibrate

With 235/45/18 will the speedo etc still register the same? I forget how all that business works. That does sound like a good idea vs potholes. I'd rather not bang up the nice factory rims.

I ended up using my stock 19s as my winters because I knew I wanted to get an aftermarket set for my summers. For my TPMS, I had my original sensors cloned to an aftermarket set by my tire guy so that I wouldn't have to do anything other than take off and install my other set each season. Yeah, unlike previous models, the 4GS doesn't have a switch.

I purchased a used set of 17" winter tires on stock 3GS rims with the TPMS sensor to use in my 4GS, how easy would it be to have the sensor ID's cloned to the winter sets? I'm thinking I would need to bring in all 4 winter tires to the dealership and have them do it, but its just a pain to carry all 4 wheels and I really don't want to dirty up my back seats...
