2007 Lexus RX350 oil change torque specifications?
Hi everyone,
First time poster here! I look forward to hanging out here and learning a lot from all of you. Anyway, the reason I'm posting today is that I'm planning to change the oil on the wife's 2007 RX350 this weekend. With that said, I was wondering if there are torque specifications for the following, and if so, what are they?
- Oil Filter Cannister
- Oil Filter Drain Plug
- Oil Pan Drain Plug
Also, if there are any type of panels I need to remove first, please let me know if that is the case and if there are torque specifications for any bolts.
I did find what I believe to be the oil pan last night under the car from the front end. It looks like I may be able to get to it without needing to jack the car up.
Also, where is the oil filter specifically located? I'm going to see if I can find it tonight.
And if anyone has any tips on doing an oil change, I am listening!
Thank you so much!

The oil filter is just an element, not one of these screw on cans. The canister that the oil filter element goes in has a small drain plug in the end that allows you to drain the canister. It has a 3/8 inch square hole in it so you just use your 3/8" ratchet to remove it. I consider myself to be lucky because on my car that drain plug is do darn tight that the the entire canister comes off when I try to remove the plug. That way I don't have to use the 62mm (?) wrench.
If you buy the oil Toyota/Lexus oil filter (part # 04152-YZZA5), it comes with all the o-rings and gaskets for the oil filter and oil pan plug washer.
I'm sure you could slide under the car without jacking it up and change the oil. I don't do that because I have ramps that I can drive the car onto.

Hi guys,
Thank you so much for the information. I really appreciate it. Looking forward to giving this a shot!
@DennisMik - I was told by Lexus the part number for the oil filter was: 04152-YZZA1. Did I get the wrong one, as I see noted ...YZZA5. Is there a big difference?
Thank you!

There are a lot of part numbers for the oil filter. I looked up the application for the 04152-YZZA1 and the 350 engine is listed, just like the 04152-YZZA5. I then went on mylparts.com and parts.com and looked up the oil filter for the 07 RX350 and that comes back with 04152-YZZA5. My dealer sold me the 04152-YZZA5 so I have continued to use that number. My dealer also sold me a 04152-YZZA3 filter and it is the same actual filter except it did not come with the plastic drain spout.
I can't find a reason to say that you definitely should use one over the other. If I can remember, I will buy a 04152-YZZA1 and compare it to the 04152-YZZA5 to see if there are any visible differences.

Thanks Lexuswiz - I picked up two of the A1's at a nearby Toyota dealership.

So I made note of the torque specifications from the other link for the following:
- Oil Filter Cannister - 20 ft lbs.
- Oil Pan bolt/nut - 30 ft lbs.
- Oil Filter drain plug - 10 ft lbs.
So I called my local dealership to try to get a technician on the phone to verify all of this and they wouldn't do it. I had to leave a message with an "advisor" and of course have yet to receive a phone call. Has anyone had luck calling a dealership to get answers to questions like this, or is this the same with every dealership?
Thanks!

Hey guys,
Well I just changed the oil tonight. First time I've ever changed the oil myself
Ran into a couple things.
1) I had to take a flat head screw driver to get the crushed washer off the oil pan...hopefully I didn't scrape the pan too bad, as it finally shot off and into the oil drain pan/bin below.
2) I try to unscrew the oil cannister drain cap/plug and it actually loosened the entire oil filter canister, so I was not able to remove it separately and change out the O-ring gasket. Of course I made a bit of a mess when unscrewing the canister.
3) I apparently bought a really, really cheap oill drain pan/pin, and made a complete mess trying to pour into the oil disposal bin (which is also really cheap). Needless to say I'll be heading to the store tomorrow evening to pickup something better to dump the pan into a bigger, better pan with a faucet drain on it, and then a better disposal container, and hopefully clean up my mess tomorrow night. ... what fun
4) Torqued the oil pan plug to 30 ft lbs.
5) Torqued the oil canister to 20 ft lbs.
6) Torqued the oil canister to 10 ft lbs (or rather checked it, because it's obviously on a lot tighter than that.
Thanks guys!
