Question Windshield Replacement - need advice

We had a crack in our windshield from a rock that must have hit it while driving. We went to Lexus and they told us it would be much cheaper to go to a local provider that comes to your home to replace windshields. We did this, yet then realized the car was very hot and there was a lot of glare. Given it wasn't Lexus glass, it clearly doesn't have the treatment the prior one had. Given this situation, I'm curious to know what others have done to replace windshields. I am not sure how we get a OEM windshield through a non-Lexus provider, and I heard the repair at the dealer would cost a LOT.

Thoughts or advice?

Welcome to CL. I sort of hate to do this, but I believe it is the most helpful advice I can offer in a single stroke on this topic.

Look in the blue bar near the top and select "Search", then "Advanced Search". Use the phrase "replace windshield" for the search term, and on the right side of that search definition window, scroll down until you see the RX 3rd Generation, select that, and then look through the long list of threads which will come up where dozens of folks have discussed this already in the forum.
