Do you have a lot of passenger sitting there and coming in contact with those areas from their arms or elbow? Those areas look extreme stretched out and a heat gun alone may not solve your problem since it looks like you need to shrink the material in those spots.

Heat did not cause that. It looks like it was compressed/deformed from bending at those areas, or possibly from a blow (e.g. wreck/impact), or maybe having repeated pressure put on those areas by passengers.

My 2015 GS 350 FSport has this too, although compared to the pics in this thread the wrinkling is VERY minor (you can barely see it, would be missed if you're not looking at it closely, but you can see the wrinkles on the end) and its only on the drivers side... since I usually don't drive with my arm on the door it probably won't get worse, but I just get the impression that the door pleather material is not very wear resistant.

IMHO this is something a lot of 4GS owners should keep an eye on, because if this is endemic, we could end up with an extended TSB for this, much like the 2008-2011 Camry drivers visor thing- EG, every one of those visors ended up breaking eventually, so Toyota actually put out a TSB to warranty the visor past the warranty of the car... so they wouldn't get their asses sued off. If this is endemic enough we might be able to get the same thing. I'm not too concerned in my
case... but its worth keeping an eye on.

Yes, I'm out of warranty. Funny that I had the aluminum door trim panels replaced (because of dings) right before the warranty lapsed, then this happens less than a year later. I was speculating that the dealer's service guys probably did something that lets moisture get through the window sills and into the inside of the door, penetrating into the foam cushioning under the leather? /shrugs

I'm open to anything. I may take it to a leather upholstery specialist, we have a few around town.

Actually, yes. I drive my sons to their high school every weekday morning. I've noticed that my 17 year old has the right side of his right thigh resting on the wrinkled spot near the door handle.
I'll need to remind him to shift himself to the left to avoid contact.

Yeah, it's an imperfect world. But to some (with OCD), it's the end of the world. j/k

My vote goes to the repeated pressure being placed on it from knees & elbows. The vinyl (don’t think it’s leather...?) is pretty thin there.

I don't consider this an OCD thing though, particularly if its caused by some kind of quality or materials defect.... I doubt most of the people getting wrinkles on their armrests are having "some hookers sit on the door cushions while the doors are open and that's whats wearing the material out, ya know, abuse like that kind of thing" from some of the posts here the wear is evident despite low use/milage they're still getting wrinkles.

It'd be one thing if someone said "yeah I have 160,000 miles on my car and it started wrinkling around 120 or so..." but I don't think that's the trend here....

Well there are a variety of positions and actions that can cause that kind of wrinkling too at any time...I will just leave it at that.

I completely agree. My 2016 GS 200T is less than one year and around 10k miles old. I can see some minor wrinkles only on the driver's side door because nobody sits on the passenger side. I never rest my elbow there but usually open/close the door using that part of the door. This occurring within a year to a brand new $50k+ vehicle under very normal use is clearly a manufacturing defect. Lexus needs to take care of it.

Your car is almost new, u should contact Lexus USA and refer this post also actually post the link on your email. Cas I don’t think dealer will do anything about and they’ll say it’s regular wear and tear. I have kept many Lexus cars over the years but this is definitely is a manufacturing defect.

I plan to talk to my dealership next month when I go for the one year complimentary service. My wrinkles are quite minor, so it is easy for the dealership to dismiss that as normal wear and tear or just fix it temporarily with a heat gun. If I get Lexus USA involved and they replace it with the same material, wrinkles will show up again. In addition, like someone stated, all these repairs if not done carefully might introduce rattles, electrical problems, etc. which I don't have now. So I am reluctant to push anything until I know there is a permanent fix.
