Dash looks very S-Class influenced.

I have become a big fan of Cadillac thanks to the recent CT6 which I think looks great. I am somewhat excited to see what this is all about.

For some reason the steering wheel reminds me of an old school wheel, I like it.

The entire dash hearkens back to older cars with long expansive dashes.

That type of dash-design was actually GM from the 80s into the early 90s.

Color me mighty impressed, this car is drop dead gorgeous. They took all the current Cadillac styling elements and refined/modernized the h3ll out of them. I always felt the design language on cars like the CTS was frumpy and non well-proportioned. This keeps that theme but presents it the way it should have been all along.

We know however, for now, that GM has shelved plans for any and all sedans that were aimed to be upmarket from the CT6, so there's no chance this will enter production. However it does bode well for the styling of the next generation Cadillac sedans.

Man Cadillac always manages to knock it out of the park with their concept cars. This thing is beautiful IMO, very well proportioned and the detailing on some things like the rear lights is exquisite. Its very futuristic without looking quite so Gothic and severe like the 2nd gen CTS(a car I love, but it is a polarizing design) but its so much more interesting than the toned down creases, slab sides, and sad eyes we have on the CTS and CT6 now days.

Also I love the interior, they kind of stole the LCD dash display idea from Benz, but this is like that idea turned up to 11. Also the rest of the interior seems much cleaner, less cluttered, fewer competing materials than the current CT6. The color choice is pretty cool as well, a bit retro if you've ever sat in a 50's/early 60's light grey Cadillac interior, kind of the same color scheme.

So is that 3 flagship sedans (concept or production) that Cadillac has unveiled since the release of the last LS? XTS, CT6, and now the Escala.

It looks really good, I'm not sure about that gray cloth they used. It looks really cheap, but outside of that the interior design is amazing. It'd be curious if this one leads to a CT8 or 9.

I think you're crazy, I love that gray cloth. It has a certain 1960's vintage vibe, like James Bond's suit in Goldfinger. Personally the interior design on this car is what really knocks it out of the park, yes its a bit concept car crazy, but then again its not so crazy that certain elements can't be incorporated into production cars, the mod cloth being one of my favorites that they could easily do, something different to distinguish themselves.

Hatchback! Which means it will never make it into production in the USA, at least not in the foreseeable future.

Audi did it, to pretty great fanfare with the A7. I still think other than the R8 it is their sexiest car. Plus its practical, despite its shape, more rear seat room and trunk space than the A4.

Also go look at the Ford Fusion(sorry Mondeo) hatchback. Ford is stupid not to sell this here, it looks "pretty close" to the sedan, but is way more versatile, and still provides that nobody can see in it trunk like the sedan. Also Ford sells a Mondeo wagon in England that looks pretty damn cool. Only reason they don't sell liftbacks and wagons in the US is that they cost less to produce than an Escape, but yet they can can charge a premium for an Escape, especially those in AWD and upper trim levels. So they don't want something undercutting their cash cow in terms of cost that provides similar utility, a superior driving experience, and marginally better fuel economy.

Anyways, Audi has proven that you can market a liftback/hatchback in the premium 65-90k market. Cadillac would not be treading new ground here, and if it provided more trunk room, well that is a unique competitive advantage vs your 3 box E-class Benz or 5 series BMW.

And Porsche proved you can do it in the $100k+ territory with the Panamera.
