Default Playing Video Files on 2016 Nav

Hi All,

I've had my 2016 CT200h Sport just a few weeks and am so happy to make the change from a dirty diesel C Class.

As others may have realised, the manuals (especially the Nav) are pretty hopeless. *Mine has the Nav with the Rotation control, not the slidey joystick.

According to the manual, its possible to play video files on the screen off the USB, the USB does search for video files when selected but I cannot*for the life of me figure out the resolution or format to make them play. *I'm pretty tech-savvy but the lack of guidance in the manual has got me foxxed on this one.

I'm wondering if any of you knowledgeable and highly intelligent bunch can figure out this feature? *Anyone up to the challenge?

Chris

I figured it out.

Use MP4 file format and parking brake on and it will play video either in a window or full screen!

What is max supported resolution? Does it downgrade if higher? What about supported audio formats within the mp4? Widescreen work as your pic look like 4:3.

I will test out the capabilities over the weekend.

It happened to be the first MP4 file I had to hand and yep it was 4:3.

Ill test out various resolutions now I know the type of file, with different audio codecs and keep you updated.

I'm guessing if a switch was put on the parking light indicator, it would probably play while driving, although totally illegal here in the UK (not to mention dangerous!).

Can you give a bit more details how you do it? USB (FAT32) with MP4 or mkv file is not doing anything....

Any more updates on this? Yesterday, I was wondering if it was possible to play a video file since I don't really have any regular DVDs anymore that would work on here. The handful I still have are Blu Ray and UHD Blu Ray. If you've figured out the video format, I'd love to try it out. Currently, I have a Chromecast hooked into the HDMI port in the back seat, and my daughters can stream Netflix, Hulu, and use the DIRECTV app with an adapter for their iPhones. If I could copy some MP4s onto a flash drive, it would certainly save me some data!
