Default Has anyone replaced the OEM Michelins with something else

Have 30K and need to decide what to get before 35K. I have 19" wheels and had no issues with Michelins so they lead the way for the next set. Has anyone replaced them with something else and what is your opinion of that tire.

My 2024 350h came with the Michelin Primacy. I have also the 19-in wheels. I thought the tires were good they were quiet but mine only lasted 25,000 mi. I rotated them regularly. I looked on tire rack and I wanted something that I would hopefully get more mileage. The yokohama's actually get better ratings and so far I've only got 10,000 mi on these tires but they do seem to be wearing better. You can see the ratings the Yokohama gets a better rating than the Michelin.

I've found Michelins to wear like crap on two prior Lexus models. I replaced both of those with Goodyear Maxlife and won't look back. Our 350h came with Goodyear Eagles and they are wearing just fine after 20k miles.

Just remember a "General Rule of Thumb" with tires. The longer the milage rating, the "harder" the rubber compound. The harder the rubber compound, the more noise the tire will create AND handling will be less. (Sticky soft grabs better than hard not so sticky)

Yeah, Primacy tires are wearing much faster than I would have expected...many options to choose from when I replace them.

Our 2025 350h came with Bridgestone Alenzas. They now have about 11.5k miles. I see no signs of wear. They’re quiet and they ride well.

Our 2000 RAV4 had Michelins on it and they were great. We had almost 40k miles on the OEM tires before we put new ones on it. When the time comes, We will put Michelins on the RX.

I have read, more than once, that OEM tires are made specifically to go on new cars and have less tread than tires sold off the rack. I don’t know if that’s true but it appears that it might be true, based on all the complaints that OEM tires don’t last as long as they should.

i usually put Defenders on our cars. I really had never considered putting light truck tires on the RX but… why not? An SUV is just a fancy light truck. I’ll look at the LTX when the RX is ready for new tires.

I opened a case with Michelin for not getting the listed 45K. We will see if they give any sort of refund. I like the Primacy tires and will probably get them again but good grief tire prices have jumped in last 3-4 years. It is about double what I paid on my old NX in 2023

Our RX came with Bridgestones, which would've last 40k if not for the alignment going out.

Went with the Michelin CrossClimate2, which is actually the 3rd set we have purchased with two sets being run on a 2013 RX350. 7k later, having driven in every weather condition and road type, I am very pleased with them. They are very confidence-insipring.

Some of the upsides that we've found running Defender LTX M/S2 truck tires on the RX is that 10 ply rated tire seldom get flats, tire life is usually 80 - 90k usable miles, stiffer tire side walls control some of the RX body sway giving a nice freeway ride and all that tread siping makes for a decent ice and hard pack snow tire, they're also a very quiet tire.

Pretty sure that's true of all oem tires.

21 inches, two months ago I replaced my Michelins with Yokohama Geolandar X‑CV G057 245/45 R21.

Before buying, I read the tests and was worried that they would be noisier and less energy efficient than Michelin, but the M+S marking and the stronger Yoko's sidewall are exactly what I need.

2,000 miles on the Yokohamas so far have disproved both of my main concerns: fuel consumption hasn't increased, and noise levels are subjectively very close to the Michelins.

I've been looking at the CrossClimate2s but I was concerned that the ride might be more noisy on the highway and may feel more firm than the OEM Goodyear Eagle Tourings that came with the car. That said, the wet performance on the Goodyears is horrible. At highway speeds in heavy rain they are unnerving. How has your experience with road noise and ride quality been on the CC2s so far?
